Our Mammography Technologists use exceptional communication skills to connect with patients, explain procedures and put patients at ease. They show their technical competence by effectively interpreting physician orders/instructions and selecting appropriate software options and imaging parameters to produce the highest-quality Mammography images/studies possible-enabling physicians to diagnose with pinpoint accuracy and treat with confidence.

We are currently seeking a Full Time Lead Mammography Technologist to join our team at the Jim and Eleanor Randall Breast Center in Pasadena. On occasion, will provide coverage to our Huntington Hill Imaging Center (Cordova location) in Pasadena, CA. We welcome you to apply and be part of a team who delivers a higher standard of care!

The Lead Mammography Technologist is responsible for ensuring that their department staff are properly trained, providing excellent patient care utilizing of customer service model, producing quality images, and following established policies and procedures. The Lead Mammography Technologist also supports the center managers, directors, and radiologists with implementing and ensuring proper protocols for the Mammography department.
The schedule includes working variable days, Monday – Saturday.

• Weekdays are: 8:00am – 5:00pm/9:00am-6:00pm
• Saturday rotations are: 7:30am-4:10pm

Pay range: $46.00/hour – $50.00/hourMUST HAVE CURRENT DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY CERTIFICATIONS (ARRT and CRT)

What you will do —

Supervisory

• Manages the Mammography department in accordance with policies and procedures set by California Medical Business Services (CMBS) in conjunction with appropriated state and federal regulations.
• Establishes and implements departmental policies and procedures with the center manager and/or radiologist. Make recommendations for improvements. Follows company policies and guidelines.
• Maintains and implements quality and safety protocols regarding patient care, exam procedures and equipment throughout the department. Makes recommendations for improvement. Ensures that all staff follows the quality and safety guidelines for the department.
• Oversees the quality control/quality analysis program under the supervision of the lead interpreting radiologist.
• Responsible for creating and updating protocols per radiologist instructions.
• Trains Mammography Technologists on procedures/changes as directed by radiologist.
• Trains and supervises students rotating from accredited schools (usually one student per year).
• Assists and guides Mammography department employees with emergencies during the shift.
• Participates in selecting and hiring of Mammography technologists. Provides new-hire orientation and initial training for new technologists as well as ongoing in-service training for all department staff as deemed appropriate by regular analyses.
• Assigns work and supervises daily operations of Mammography areas. Acts as a resource for specialized or complicated procedures. Reviews schedules for complicated cases and reviews them with the radiologist.
• Creates a monthly department schedule, which may involve rotation of staff to multiple facilities.
• Responsible for staffing the Mammography department adequately and encourages technologists efficiency and productivity.
• Ensure accuracy of employee timesheets in the department.
• Ensures that Mammography technologists complete required training courses.
• Responsible for maintaining technologists licensing and CME documentation and report provided copies to Imaging Center Manager.
• Completes performance evaluations as well as written and verbal counseling of Mammography technologists. When necessary, recommends disciplinary action with final approval at level of the Clinical Operations Director and Human Resources Director.
• Ensures that equipment is maintained and operating properly. Orders supplies for the department. Documents malfunctions; schedules preventative maintenance, service, and annual physicist testing for the equipment as appropriate.
• Responsible for ACR accreditation for department (if applicable).
• Conducts safety trainings for department meetings (as requested).
• Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations as required.
• Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
• Schedules and coordinates tests, records test results, and prepares and maintains operational logs.
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
• Must exercise good and sound judgment and plan and accomplish goals.
• Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
• Works closely with Radiologist and referring physicians.
• Keeps Imaging Center Manager, Clinical Operations Director and Chief Operations Officer abreast of department potential issues or escalated issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Clinical Operations Director or Chief Operations Officer.
• Ensure that company policies and procedures are followed.

Technologist

• Performs high quality digital mammography imaging in accordance with established imaging center policies and procedures.
• Performs stereotatic mammography biopsies and/or localization (as trained).
• Provide thorough and attentive patient care throughout examinations.
• Participate in a minimum of one continuing education course per year, maintaining a total of at least five continuing education units per year to meet MQSA, CRT and ARRT requirements.
• Selects length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting technical factors to obtain the most optimal mammogram possible on each individual patient.
• Evaluates the technical factors of positioning, compression, exposure, contrast, sharpness, noise, artifacts, collimation and labeling on every patient prior to dismissal.
• Actively participates in the quality control/quality analysis program under the supervision of the lead interpreting radiologist and quality control technologist.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness in accordance with established imaging center policies and procedures for infection control.
• Process mammography exams thru PACS and MRS programs.
• Authorizes release of patients upon completion of examinations.
• Accurately completing all paperwork required for efficient patient tracking.
• Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiological/mammography supplies.
• Participates in special projects either directly related to or outside the scope of mammography.
• Perform X-Ray exams and will follow organizational policies and procedures for all exams.
• Cross training and flexing through other department as needed.
• Attends required meetings.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.

What You Will Bring:

• Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience of equivalent.
• Expertise in at least one modality and willing to cross train for other areas.
• Two years of experience as a mammography technologist preferred.
• Advanced computer skills a plus such as knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.
• Candidate must have a strong work-ethic, and must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Dependability and provision of excellence in customer service to our physicians and patient care is a must.
• Current ARRT and CRT mammography certification in digital mammography.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of courses in radiological technology and mammography approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT and Certified Radiologic Technology (CRT) for the State of California. Meet all requirements for MQSA qualification in digital mammography.
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to sufficiently pinpoint areas for radiography and mammography with emphasis on body placement and positioning.
• Basic knowledge of radiology/mammography equipment and testing.
• Knowledge of safety hazards common to positioning patients to provide quality imaging.
• Skill in trouble-shooting equipment operation and performing simple adjustments.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
• Ability to maintain quality control standards.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
• Ability to communicate clearly.
