In 1995 we started our first middle school, KIPP Academy, in The Bronx. Our goal was to graduate students with the strength of character and academic abilities needed to succeed in high school, college and beyond – and in so doing, to prove what is possible for all students. Today, our New York City network is comprised of eight elementary schools, nine middle schools, one high school, and KIPP Forward, a comprehensive support program for our alumni. KIPP NYC Public Schools currently serves more than 9,350 students and alumni and has a staff of more than 850. KIPP NYC is continuing to grow and opened two new middle schools and an elementary school August 2021!
Job Description
Position Overview:
The Financial Planning and Analysis (FPA) Analyst is an integral part of the KIPP NYC Finance Team. The FPA Analyst is an ideal role for an analytical thinker with superb organizational and communication skills. The FPA Analyst will assist in financial modeling, report development and financial analysis as part of the FPA team. The FPA Analyst will also support school and program budget managers with financial analysis and protocols in their budgetary decisions.
Report directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this position is based out of our KIPP NYC Midtown Manhattan and requires local travel around NYC.
General duties and responsibilities, but not limited to:
Financial Reporting
- Support the Chief Financial Officer in the creation of reporting to schools and regional leadership, the KIPP NYC Board of Directors, donors, financing partners and regulators,
- Create monthly financial and metrics reporting for KIPP NYC schools and programs for the Chief Financial Officer to use in Board of Directors presentations
- Create quarterly and ad hoc financial reporting packages for board meetings and regulators;
- Schedule regular meetings with school and team budget managers with accurate and meaningful analysis and exceptional, best-in-class customer service
- Support as a liaison team member between Finance, Development and Real Estate teams for donor and financial partner reporting by creating budget and spending reports for external donors and financing partners.
Budgeting / Forecasting
- Work with a subset of school and program budget managers across the organization to create annual budgets by
- Establishing key financial parameters and budgeting guidelines by school band and/or program;
- Managing annual setup of budgeting and reporting software;
- Overseeing complete budget cycle for subset of school and/or programs, facilitating the delivery of complete and accurate budgets;
- Create and maintain an ongoing accurate financial forecast for schools and programs;
- Support Chief Financial Officer in maintaining long-term financial models
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, in finance or related field highly preferred
- 3+ years of work experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and data management, including building and maintaining complex financial models required
- Strong understanding of financial accounting and financial statement analysis.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office products with exceptional Excel and PowerPoint skills and an aptitude for learning new software.
- Meticulous attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills; ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Demonstrated passion for and a commitment to the KIPP mission for high-quality public education and social justice

Compensation and Benefits:
KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $87,550 to $110,000 per year. Salary ranges at KIPP NYC are standardized based on role level and role function. Individual salaries are determined through a lens of equity, accounting for years of experience relevant to the role and scope of responsibilities, and are benchmarked against others within the same salary band. Starting salaries typically fall in the lower half of the salary range, however they are ultimately determined by scope of the position, the candidate’s relevant experience, and internal equity.
