Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a Junior DevOps Engineer to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. The qualified applicant will support Senior members of the DevOps team working in a large-scale Federal Government software development environment. The selected candidate should be an independent analytical thinker and excellent communicator, with an ability to quickly learn new technology and processes. This position is a great entry level position for a new college graduate! Must have schooling and knowledge of software development and agile methodologies.
Day to Day Work Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing and automating Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, Urban Code Deploy, and other tools for a large-scale national security system.
- The DevOps implementation will include support for Agile Lifecycle Management, Build Automation, Deployment Automation, Continuous Integration, Test Automation, Security Analysis Automation, Static Code Analysis, Repository Management, and Infrastructure as Code (IAC).
- Maintain CI/CD tools/platforms
- Develop and maintain pipeline configurations
- Automate processes
- Perform systems management and integration functions
- Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills.
Position Requires Candidate to be located within a commutable distance from Columbia, MD. NO full-time remote telecommuting allowed, however, position only requires candidate to be in office 4 times per month (2 days per pay period)
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- United States Citizenship required (no dual citizenship)
- Must have the ability to obtain /maintain DoD SECRET clearance required
- Can begin work with interim status and TSA clearance
- Note: Peraton will sponsor SECRET clearances as needed
- Time frame to receive interim SECRET plus TSA clearance can be several months
- Bachelor’s degree and 0-2 years experience or Associate’s degree and 2+ years relevant experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 5 years of hands-on Java/JEE experience (degree preferred)
- 1+ years of experience setting up and maintaining a Jenkins-based CI/CD pipeline or a GitLab CI/CD pipeline
- Experience with developing and managing web services (REST, SOAP, etc)
- 1+ year of experience with Shell scripting
- Strong communication, team building and analytical skills
- Ability to decompose complex processes into understandable components
- Proficiency in automating and optimizing processes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with any of the following:
- Agile Development
- Splunk
- AppDynamics
- Selenium
- Serenity
- Cucumber
- Maven
- Gradle
- Docker SonarQube
- Urban Code Deploy
- Basic cloud knowledge – AWS, Terraform (IAC languages)
- Experience with Web development technologies (HTML, JSP, etc.) and JavaScript Frameworks.
- Experience in SAFe Agile methodology
- Experience in a large scale Federal IT Program
- Active Secret Level Security Clearance preferred.

Target Salary Range
$66,000 – $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
