The University of Oregon School of Law is a dynamic, ABA-accredited law school and Oregon’s only public law school. Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to manage the Career Center for our JD students. This includes managing the day-to-day activities of the office; organizing on-campus interviews and other professional events; initiating, developing, and implementing communications strategies for outreach to legal professionals, law firms, judges, courts, alumni and other potential employers. This person must also coordinate the work of students and project teams; facilitate student worker orientation and training meetings; support overall programming and workshops and manage employment reporting requirements for the American Bar Association.
This position includes office management, executive support to the Assistant Dean for Career Planning, and project management for large, on-going projects and professional events. In addition, this person will supervise the Center’s student workers.
This is a 1.0 FTE position that reports to the Assistant Dean of Career Planning and Professional Development.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
• Three years of experience in program/project management.
• Two years of supervisory experience.
Professional Competencies
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Ability to independently prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment with
competing demands.
• Experience managing complex projects with excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to 1) work effectively with students, staff, and faculty from culturally diverse backgrounds and with multiple intersectional identities; and 2) advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the university community.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Outlook and Microsoft office software, including Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, and survey instruments.
• Understanding of technology used to advance communications goals, create
website updates, and perform internet research.
Preferred Qualifications
• Strong connections to the legal community throughout Oregon.
• General understanding of the breadth of legal practice areas (sufficient to develop communication materials for appropriate audiences).
• General understanding of a law school and programmatic work in a higher education setting.
