The Opportunity

As the Human Resources Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, certifying, and training on international regulatory HR compliance policies, practices, and procedures. You will provide compliance advice, verify any deficiencies, and ensure gaps are updated and closed. You will regularly perform internal audits and spot checks on a wide variety of international employment related processes and systems to ensure compliance consistency and data requirements are being followed appropriately. The role will develop reports to comply with organizational policies, regulatory requirements as well as local/ country specific requirements and provide training, communications, and change management as needed.

Core Responsibilities

  • Identifies, tracks, and manages country specific labor laws and regulations that inform Abt’s policies, practices, procedures, systems, and tools in support of managing a global workforce.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees to manage risk and regulatory compliance in the 40+ countries Abt employs staff.
  • Support HR and business leaders in maintaining compliance and employment objectives and providing project management support in designing and implementing international employment processes and tools.
  • Partner with internal HR team members to offer global organizational compliance subject matter expertise on employment, policies, processes, programs, systems, and tools, and escalates any legal questions or concerns to the Legal Department.
  • Ensures that process maps, and documentation remains current and that process changes are effectively managed from a quality control, training, and communication perspective.
  • Collaborate with HR process owners to review the maintenance of required compliance documentation and internal control practices in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Design and assist the HR team and project teams in the education and training of HR POCs on regulatory and compliance employment issues, policies, processes, systems, and tools to ensure they can deliver on HR responsibilities and work.
  • Assist in the development of tools and resources for HR compliance processes including procedures, guidelines, and documentation.
  • Identify training opportunities across Abt’s international business with a recommended approach to drive knowledge management.
  • Leads all internal and compliance audits related to international employee data and ensures all personnel records are maintained as per requirements. Support any local audits and responses to local employment filings.
  • Analyze employee data to resolve missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies and proactively communicate on gaps.
  • Coordinate with HR leads to respond to HR service center compliance tickets per service level agreements.
  • Work together with country/project HR teams to support and champion HR global initiatives.

What We Value

  • Bachelor’s Degree + 9 years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + 7 years of relevant experience, or PhD + 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, Administration, Law, Management, Finance, Communication, Psychology, or related fields is strongly preferred.
  • 8 – 10 years of experience in HR involving compliance, auditing, and regulatory matters. Prior international generalist or business partner experience is preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of global human resource policies and practices.
  • Ability to research, understand and communicate complex and sometimes cumbersome global labor laws.
  • Strong team player and problem solver with the ability to serve as a business partner and provide both operational and strategic people focused solutions.
  • Must demonstrate good interpersonal, presentation and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to effectively facilitate collaboration among diverse groups, people, and professional disciplines.
  • Strategic and critical thinker and change agent who can execute tactically while maintaining a view of long-term goals and company objectives.
  • Great attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously with excellent organizational skills.
  • Preferred experience and competency in HRIS – Oracle HCM Cloud, OTBI Experience, ServiceNow; proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Fluent in French preferred.
  • SPHR, GPHR, SHRM-SCP, or PMP certifications preferred.

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $79,500 to $125,000, and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
