Intern, Operational Autonomy Center, Formal Method

Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art.

Essential Duties:

Primary job function is to assist in autonomous systems research and development.

Particular focus is on machine learning, sensor systems, motion planning algorithms, and control.

Tasks will include the development, implementation, and evaluation of algorithms for autonomy in the real-world, such as for vehicle perception, planning and control.

Required Skills:

Machine Learning (ML) experience, along with at least one of the following: Adversarial machine learning, computer vision, NLP for formal languages (programming languages, logics, etc.), multi-sensor fusion (e.g. vision, LIDAR, radar), Augmented Reality (AR), Reinforcement Learning (RL), or robotics (preferably mobile vehicles).

Experience using machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.

Experience in one of the following machine learning frameworks: PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow is desired.

Required Education:

Currently pursuing a PhD, MS or BS in Computer Science, Statistics, EE, or Applied Mathematics.

Physical Requirements:

Good communication (verbal and written) skills.

Active participation in R&D team activities is required.

Special Requirements:

Able and willing to occasionally travel.

U.S. Person status.

Compensation:

The pay range for this position $35 – $50 per hour.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
