As a Software Engineer – Data with Aon IP Solutions, you will join a dynamic team seeking to answer sophisticated questions related to IP analysis, valuation, and risk modeling. The questions we answer range from “How many lawsuits will your company have next year?” to “Are the patents you own actually any good?”

How this opportunity is different
These roles fall under Aon’s Early Career Development program, known as Launch. Building on the development colleagues receive in the role they are hired into; the Launch program is a supplemental development program for recent college recruits to mentor and develop future leaders of the firm. This 10-month development program begins every summer and includes in-person sessions, networking opportunities, self-study, and global leader calls.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work closely with full-time team members to learn and receive mentorship.
- Receive and perform code reviews with other engineers.
- Write unit, integration, and end to end tests to verify functionality using automated testing frameworks such as Pytest.
- Work collaboratively with fellow software engineers to build features requested by business stakeholders.
- Participate in Agile teams to develop, test, and debug complex data processing pipelines and data analysis applications using big data processing systems such as Apache Spark.
- Diagnose, debug, and perform root cause analysis of issues and defects.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
- Experience with Python.
- Experience with cloud systems, AWS.
- Experience writing SQL queries against a relational database such as PostgreSQL
- Some visualization experience such as Tableau or PowerBI is preferred.
- Experience within a DevOps environment is preferred with terra structures or terraforms.
- An inquisitive mind and a desire to promote innovation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Eagerness to work in a highly-collaborative environment where the belief is that phenomenal ideas can come from anywhere.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
Applicants for this role, which is part of the Aon Launch Program, should be graduating between December 2022 – June 2023 and have a GPA of 3.0 or above.

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $70,000 – $90,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.
This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
