Interior Designer/Drafting Specialist

We’re looking for an interior designer and drafting specialist to collaborate with our design team, build and fabrication team, clients, and vendors to develop and create extraordinary spaces that are as safe and functional as they are beautiful. The ideal candidate is a proactive, forward-thinking designer with a passion for details and communicating design intent through construction drawings and modeling.

Essential Job Functions

  • Take projects through every phase of evolution from the initial design brief to construction documentation and administration.
  • Prepare interior drawing sets and construction documentation for both commercial and residential projects
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, fabricators, contractors, and other contributing parties
  • Assist in researching and specifying materials and FF&E
  • Develop 2-D drawings (utilizing AutoCAD) and 3-D models (using SketchUp)
  • Produce renderings and construction documents for the execution of designs
  • Contribute to ideation, conceptual design, and inspiration research, including preliminary floor plans based on appropriate flow and spatial allocation
  • Listen and collaborate with team and client on design direction
  • Participate in site visits, as-builts, research and feasibility
  • Establish timelines for projects and estimate project costs
  • Build positive client relations and maintain thorough communication with all contributing parties
  • Create inspiring and feasible presentation packages
  • Responsible for purchase and procurement of all project-related materials and FFE
  • Manage and communicate project progress, sticking to deadlines and staying within budget
  • Initiate site walks with clients and contractors throughout construction phase

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field
  • +3 years of experience in an architectural or interior design firm
  • Strong portfolio that showcases design, conceptual skills and creativity
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape (or similar rendering programs), Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Excel
  • Understanding of building codes and ADA compliance
