Under the direction of the Informatics Training Manager, this position develops and delivers training for hospital clinical and business information systems. This position works independently conducting needs and skills assessments for end users to determine the type and duration of training needed, develops training documentation and outlines, and delivers training to end-users with varying levels of computer literacy and in a range of clinical and business modules/applications. In addition, this position mentors and develops junior educators, and educates others on best practices.
Annual Salary Range: $79,913.00 – $117,873.00
Qualifications
Education:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Education, or a related field or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work in lieu of a degree.
- A Master’s degree is preferred and may substitute for up to two (2) years of required experience, and a Doctorate may substitute for all required experience.
Experience:
- Requires five (5) years of progressively responsible training, education, and/or healthcare-related experience that demonstrates a thorough knowledge and understanding of the advanced tools, workflow processes, and/or procedures and concepts used in implementing, designing, and delivering training programs and materials related to healthcare software applications.
Certification/Licensure:
- Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within 90 days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
- If applicable to the application(s) assigned to support, certification(s) for the specific business, clinical, or financial application(s)/system(s) is required and must be kept up to date.
- Prefer professional clinical licensure (eg. RN, Radiology, Laboratory, Pharmacy, etc) if supporting clinical application systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must possess and demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of and skill in areas of healthcare applications, technology, education, and automated systems as well as Epic software as evidenced by passing a competency certification test by Epic and experience in providing classroom and/or on-site training in health information systems.
- Must have an excellent understanding of healthcare business and software and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical professionals and a strong ability to translate administrative and operating requirements into clear, specific, and actionable curricula and then implement and teach those curriculums.
- Must have a working knowledge of clinical operation areas of the application supported with training and/or experience in specific clinical areas.
- Must have a good understanding of healthcare industry requirements.
- Must have proven experience in implementing, designing, and delivering training programs in a healthcare environment utilizing current technology.
- Must maintain current knowledge of trends and issues in health care, nursing practice, healthcare informatics, DNV standards; organizational policies and procedures related to clinical practice and the legal implications of the clinical information system; and clinical applications currently in use and their relationship to other organizational information systems.
- Must possess solid analytical skills that can translate the analysis into effective training content, frequently exercising independent technical judgment.
- Must have skills to support others in the application, facilitation, and aptitude for coordination for consensus building, and functional and workflow analysis.
- Requires the ability to collect and analyze complex data; perform workflow analysis and translate the outcome into a training curriculum.
- Must have the ability to develop initiatives in an innovative manner for effective resolution; prepare and conduct effective lessons/presentations; coordinate activities with diverse groups and individuals; coordinate large-scale training efforts; and simultaneously support multiple applications.
- Requires the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and in writing including knowledge of basic grammar, spelling & punctuation.
