Primary Duty:
Effectively maintain and coordinate with buyers the daily logistics, processes, and paperwork for their assigned branch. Directly work with the Operations Manager regarding vendors, communication, and information. This position will bring insight and knowledge to the decision making process with carrier base or pricing, project management and how any potential issues will affect the overall business with both vendors and employees.
Essential Job Functions:
The Freight Coordinator will be assigned duties, based on organizational needs and priorities.
- Effectively maintain and coordinate daily incoming and outgoing shipments according to company guidelines.
- Daily communication and interaction with company buyers within the branch.
- Book loads directly from vendor plans to distribution centers across the country.
- Maintain logs and communicate shipping activities with vendors, customers and internal departments.
- Perform record keeping and product reports, verifying confirmation of inbound and outbound shipments.
- Compile information and report on use of stock, adjustments of inventory counts and stock records, damage to stock, location changes, etc.
- Coordinate availability of product for shipping and communicate with both internal departments.
- Build and manage carrier base by establishing new carriers, managing rate negotiations based on market, and process claims for shortages and layovers
- Cover & re-cover load for assigned branch.
- Oversee freight operations from different branches such as Detroit, Cleveland, among others.
- Perform other tasks as needed.
Collateral Duties
- Assist colleagues as needed.
- Address issues regarding inventory and pricing.
- Attend staff and other scheduled business meetings.
- Perform other tasks and special projects as needed.

Requirements:
- 5 years of experience in the freight or logistics business environment.
- Previous experience in the transportation brokerage a plus.
- Hands on experience in preparing documents for domestic shipments.
- Experience with and knowledge of Microsoft Work and PowerPoint, as well as advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Ability to perform advanced level analysis, interpret and evaluate precedents and data, and recommend solutions to non-recurring problems.
- Demonstrate ability in using independent judgment in determining how to approach and solve problems.
- Ability to think through multiple alternatives and potential consequences to determine the best outcome.
- Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills, using approachable vocabulary and grammar.
- Ability to prepare accurate, effective, complete and easily understood reports and other forms of written communication.
- Highly organized with strong quantitative abilities.
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable and organize prioritize multiple duties.
- Ability to work on EST/CST remotely.
