The Molinari Juvenile Shelter, located in Manassas, VA., is a short-term residential program for boys and girls ages 10 to 17 years old who are in crisis and in need of temporary placement. ABOUT THIS ROLE: In this role the Human Services Associate will lead youth groups on various topics: anger management, job readiness, social skills, setting goals and effective communication. You will supervise youth with daily hygiene, chores, mealtime, recreation and educational activities. Additional responsibilities include data input, resident file maintenance and communication with community resources. You must be willing to maintain a safe and stable living environment, model positive behavior and teach coping skills to youth who are struggling with difficult problems. We seek a candidate who is a flexible, selfless, non-arrogant team player who has a passion for working with at risk youth. These attributes are important due to the population of youth that are using the Molinari Juvenile Shelter Services. It is our day-to-day mission to assist and develop at-risk youth to become the best version of themselves and to reenter society better equipped for the challenges of life.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or G.E.D. and 1 year of related experience.
PREFERENCES:
- Experience teaching life and daily living skills to youth.
- Experience working in a residential setting.
- Experience with computer skills such as inputting data and case file maintenance.
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: The work schedule for this position may vary based on the needs of the Shelter and residents. Currently, Molinari Juvenile Shelter is seeking a candidate who is flexible and can periodically work evenings, overnights, holidays and/or weekend shifts; Shifts will rotate for the overnight shifts – 10pm-6am; 11pm-7am; or 12am-8am.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment background check;
- Must pass a pre-employment physical before a final offer will be extended;
- Possession of a valid driver’s license, depending on job assignments;
- All DSS staff members are required to provide emergency human services work in the event of an emergency disaster.
STARING SALARY RANGE: $22.01 – $33.01 hourly
Prince William County Government offers medical plans with corresponding pharmacy and basic vision coverage, as well as dental plans and a separate vision plan.
Full-time and part-time Prince William County Government employees are eligible to participate in our plans; however, the level and cost of benefits depends on the classification of the position.
