Job Summary

Under direction from the HRVP the Director – Business Partnerships is a mission-driven and results-oriented leader that will develop and execute strategies to strengthen YGS. The Director – Business Partnerships directs activities that lead to implementation of inclusive and equitable processes for managing the talent at YGS. They are responsible for leading a team of business partners and providing HR guidance, talent acquisition, analyzing metrics, resolving employee relations issues in partnership with the Director – Employee Relations, and works with management to improve work relationships and productivity. This role is a key HR leadership position within YGS .

The Director – Business Partnerships will provide continued support to assigned Center of Excellence, serving as a liaison between Human Resources and the employees at the YMCA of Greater Seattle (YGS), holding the same responsibilities as our HR Business Partners:

The HR Business partner is responsible for conducting the recruitment and hiring processes and implementing the Voice of the Employee Framework. As part of the Employee Experience team, the HR Business Partner will coordinate with HR Learning and Development team members to ensure opportunity and access to Learning & Development for all YGS employees. These responsibilities support the YGS Employee Experience, following the whole employee life cycle and developing strategies to attract, retain and reward high performing staff who meet the mission, goals, and objectives of YGS.

Hiring Range: $97,760-118,824/year

Responsibilities

RECRUITING AND HIRING:

  • Identify, attract, source and increase pool of candidates for current hiring needs.
  • Manage full life cycle recruiting including posting jobs, sourcing candidates, dispositioning candidates in ATS, ensuring reference checks are completed, providing finalists with key organizational information, and communicating through the close of the job.
  • Identifies and implements strategies to support diversity in the recruitment of management team openings and key leadership positions in newly opened wellness centers. Supports the work of the Recruiter.
  • Research and manage the logistics of campus career/job fair events and coordinate branch participation.
  • Work directly with hiring managers to understand their hiring needs and key priorities; partner throughout the entire recruiting process (communicating updates, supporting salary negotiation, etc.).
  • Actively participate in the development and implementation of strategic efforts around recruiting and talent management, resulting in a diverse and well qualified candidate pool that meets our business needs, now and for the future.

ONBOARDING:

  • In partnership with the Director – Talent Development collaborates with and external YGS teams to develop and implement the employee onboarding and orientation program
  • Supports operational functional leads in the scheduling and delivery of functional training curriculum to set new hires up for success in their specific role, in coordination and aligned with the onboarding and orientation program.
  • Engages operational stakeholders to provide input and feedback on the onboarding and orientation program.

VOICE OF THE EMPLOYEE FRAMEWORK:

  • Ensure employees and supervisors are equipped with the appropriate tools for employee engagement and success by providing HR system and process navigation for all YGS staff within their designated scope of service.
  • Maintain and communicate up-to-date and accurate HR information to all staff; develop and foster a feedback loop with all HR leaders for continuous improvement of HR processes.
  • Plan and implement culture- and function-specific onboarding of all new employees throughout their first year with YGS; coordinate with supervisors and other YGS support staff to ensure all required trainings are completed; and work with the HR Development Specialist and other supervisors to assess and revise onboarding plans to meet the needs of the association.
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Develop, implement and maintain a YGS workforce recognition system.

TALENT MANAGEMENT:

  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Conducts Talent Review Sessions and works on development planning and succession planning with leaders.
  • Assist in offboarding process including exit interviews/surveys and process development. Analyze trends and metrics relating to retention and workforce engagement.

OVERALL PARTNERING:

  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Conducts weekly meetings with respective business units.
  • Consults with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Provide coaching for supervisors addressing equitable hiring practices, employee performance and professional development.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.

TEAM LEADERSHIP:

  • Manage team’s operating budget, according to YGS budget guidelines.
  • Responsible for planning and development, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, performance requirements for business partnering team and deliverables.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. The HR Generalist role will require commuting to centers/program sites, partnering with team members and YGS leaders.

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, typically 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work will be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL

This is a regional role supporting multiple locations in the Seattle area. Reliable transportation to support frequent travel within King County required.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in human resources related to Recruitment and Hiring, Employee Engagement and Learning & Development
  • Keen attention to detail, process driven, strong analytical skills and the ability to manage and manipulate large quantities of data
  • Proven track record of managing multiple competing deadlines
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be comfortable speaking in front of large groups and working with all levels of an organization.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, (e.g. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Human Resources Management or related field
  • 2+ years of supervisor experience
  • Experience working with UltiPro/UKGPro and iCIMS
  • HR experience in a childcare, social services, or nonprofit environment
  • Ability to speak any language in addition to English.
