Class Summary

Incumbent is responsible for oversight of the staffing and operations including its activities and relationships with golf programs in the community for the Municipal Golf Course.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Receives general guidance from the Parks Manager and higher-level supervisory staff.
Typical Class Essential Duties
1. Supervises assigned staff to include: authorizing time off, approving payroll and hiring; prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
2. Coordinates, prioritizes, and assigns operational activities for golf course programs including working very closely with the Golf Course Superintendent, other City departments, and outside agencies; provides staff assistance to the Parks and Recreation Managers; prepares and presents operational plans and other necessary correspondence.
3. Manages the activities of the golf course as it relates to programs and customers, which includes developing and implementing departmental goals, policies, and procedures; identifies and implements opportunities to improve services.
4. Ensures outstanding service by providing a friendly and inviting environment for customers.
5. Oversees inventory controls and a point of sale system.
6. Assists with budget preparation and administration; prepares cost estimates and revenue goals and justifications for budget items; submits and approves invoices for payment and monitors expenses to align with budget allocated utilizing the City’s central financial software system.
7. Prepares operational and statistical reports.
8. Keeps current on new trends and innovations in golf course operations.
9. Maintains records on preventative maintenance and other repair work on equipment.
10. Provides general customer service and communicates with the public regarding fees, policies, rules and general information about the facility or event.
11. Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.
12. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Training, Experience & Certifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) required.
• Minimum of three years of increasingly responsible experience as a golf professional.
• Minimum of two years of experience working as a supervisor.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in recreation, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed below.
LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Professional Golf Association (PGA) Class A membership within one (1) year of hire.
• Possession of a valid Wyoming driver’s license preferred.

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
