Geographic Information System (GIS) Administration Supervisor

As the Supervisor of GIS Systems Administration, you will:

  • Act as a corporate expert for UTA’s Geographic Information System (GIS)
  • Manage, supervise, administer, and coordinate UTA GIS software, including establishing standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide geographic database design and management.
  • Design and program GIS/spatial data applications.
  • Coordinate GIS efforts with external agencies, performs complex geospatial analyses, manages GIS contract services, and provides GIS training.
  • Develop, maintain, and supports integrations between GIS and other business systems.
  • Also provides key data collection/analysis relating to UTA State of Good Repair (SGR) Program as required by the Federal Transit Administration.
  • Oversee databases, supports UTA’s Capital Asset and SGR teams with necessary technology solutions to manage complex efforts such as field inspections, agency-wide bi-annual inventory efforts, oversee capital asset mapping efforts, and support the whole of UTA as it pertains to its GIS Analysis and mapping needs.
  • Coordinate with internal UTA departments relating to system integration, system administration, and external coordination with stakeholders relating to its GIS system.
  • Supervise GIS contractors as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING/LICENSES:

  • Five years in ESRI ArcGIS software database management in an administrator or similar role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a program in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or related field. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, 4 additional years of applicable experience will be considered.
  • Master’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Must have a valid Utah Driver’s License. Must be a safe driver with no more than 4 moving violations in the past 3 years. Cannot have more than 1 violation of driving under the influence of alcohol, any drug, or the combined influence of any alcohol or any drug within the last 10 years.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Advanced expertise in ESRI ArcGIS suite of products inclusive of ArcGIS Pro. ArcGIS Server Enterprise and Portal Management.
  • Advanced Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Word and Excel preferred.
  • Preferred familiarity/experience with:
    • Federal Transit Administration’s State of Good Repair program
    • Federal Transit Administration’s grants management program
    • Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs for equipment or other assets
    • Performance analysis
    • JDE technical skills – including GIS integration.
    • Trapeze
    • SQL Server
  • This job requires regular and predictable attendance.

Pay Range: $87,500.00 or more depending on experience
