Front End Software Engineer – Casual Games Studio

The Microsoft Casual Games Studio is a small but growing team that is focused on delivering casual games for Windows, Mobile, and the Web. We are looking for an experienced Front End Software Engineer to join us and develop solutions for our online portfolio of Microsoft Casual Games.

We have ambitions for the future of gaming on the web and are looking for a Front End Software Engineer to join us. You will be responsible for the development of new features, as well as ongoing support and maintenance, in support of new and existing HTML5 apps. We are looking for an individual that can do more than just “write code.” We want an individual that is excited to dream, design, code and support great new features in the world of online casual games.

Responsibilities:
As a member of the Microsoft Casual Games Team you will:

  • Assist in updating, maintaining, and implementing new features for the Microsoft Casual Games HTML5 portfolio.
  • Assist in developing implementation plans for new experiences, according to functional requirements and feature specifications.
  • Consult on a regular basis with project leadership to align expectations and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with internal and external designers, artists, and software engineers to deliver new experiences, tools, and features.
  • Document code for portability and future development.
  • Fluidly multitask between features, platforms, and projects.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, JavaScript or TypeScript
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with common web development frameworks, particularly Angular.
  • Experience deploying and managing web-based applications with Azure or similar cloud-based solutions.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps or similar version-control tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years experience in HTML5 software development.
  • A passion for games and gaming, specifically casual games.
  • Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with other team members.
  • Experience interacting with external APIs and web services.
  • Experience building customer-facing web apps.
  • Experience with HTML5 games and common web game frameworks, particularly Phaser.
  • Experience with Adobe Animate

Software Engineering IC3 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 – $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 – $198,600 per year.
