Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Flood Resiliency Engineer, with knowledge of flood hazard planning and modeling, to join our Water Management team and support flood resiliency projects nationwide.

Our Water Management team helps clients achieve objectives by creating and implementing innovative and effective solutions for natural and built assets. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated engineer to join our team and engage in impactful, leading flood resiliency projects.

This role sits within our global business area of Resilience. We work to protect our natural environment and water resources while powering our world for future generations. Around the world, we’re feeling the effects of climate change, rapid urbanization, and loss of biodiversity. The rate at which we’re seeing large-scale, unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires, is becoming more frequent. Role accountabilities:

  • Developing flood hazard models
  • Conducting flood vulnerability assessments and flood resiliency planning
  • Preparing technical reports, memorandum, and presentations
  • Mentoring junior staff and coordinating with national staff on projects
  • Engaging in the professional community, presenting at conferences, and participating in local professional organizations
  • Supporting senior staff in the development of proposals, interviews, and other business development activities

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Water Resources Engineering or a related discipline
  • 5 years of professional work experience in Civil or Water Resources Engineering
  • PE license or ability to obtain within six months of hire date

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Experience with watershed, riverine, and urban flood modeling primarily using HEC-RAS but XPSWMM and InfoWorks ICM experience is beneficial as well
  • Strong GIS experience
  • Familiarity with flood hazards and key stakeholders in Texas
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Civil or Water Resources Engineering
  • Experience with two-dimensional rain-on-mesh flood modeling using HEC-RAS

The salary range for this position is $70,800 – $122,130.
