Overview

We are currently looking for talented, highly motivated, confident undergraduate & graduate students seeking a full-time, paid Co-Op/internship for Summer 2023 (May 22 to August 18, 2023) to work directly with our Capture Systems R&D team. This will be a in-person poistion with the ideal candidate being able to commute to our Rochester, NY office location x5 a week.

We’re looking for a Flight Systems Hardware Intern/Co-Op. The Flight Systems Hardware Intern is responsible to assist in the yearly maintenance of aerial camera systems in EagleView’s extensive fleet of imaging aircraft. The systems include both the cameras and the flight PC that is operating with a Windows OS. This is a hands-on position working primarily in EagleView’s Flight Systems Laboratory. The ideal candidate will have a positive, can-do attitude, an eagerness to learn new skills, and is at home working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Routine maintenance and testing of custom camera equipment, including mechanical assembly, startup, and calibration using custom tools and software
  • Routine updating and troubleshooting of flight computers operating with Windows OS
  • Work closely with other Hardware Technicians as well as the Flight Support team to ensure that cameras and systems are ready when needed
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Document service history and hardware deployment in electronic asset tracking system
  • Suggesting production process improvements
  • Other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student enrolled as a full-time student
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale)
  • Target areas of study:
    • Science
    • Technology
    • Computer Science
    • Manufacturing related-discipline
    • Other related field disciplines
  • Skills & Requirements
  • Hands-on capability to build mechanical assemblies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to lift and move 40 pounds
  • Effective team player
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and through written correspondence

Preferred Requirements

  • Science, Technology, or Manufacturing related discipline preferred
  • Proficient with Windows OS and computer hardware troubleshootingDemonstrated ability to prioritize and manage team goals and initiatives amid competing priorities
  • Critical thinker with strong attention to detail and ability to problem solve
  • Familiarity with principles of digital photography and general construction of digital cameras

The compensation offered to the successful candidate will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s work experience, education and licenses, work-related training, key skills, the core duties of the role and its associated responsibilities, additional benefits offered, and the location where the work will be performed. This is an in-person full-time position with a base salary range of $20-$23 per hour.
