• Under direction, improve the efficiency and oversight for fleet operations and manage agreements with vendors and other city agencies.
• Promote Vision Zero Initiatives, including vehicle telematics, safety programs and emission reduction technologies.
• Administer fleet consolidation initiatives, and manage vehicle sharing programs, including Zipcar and Ridecell.
• Manage, create, and streamline databases as needed. Ensure that the Fleet Management System works properly; ensure the reliability of information entered.
• Provide training to staff, citywide, to utilize the Fleet Management Program accurately and efficiently.
• Help organize special events and respond to emergencies when needed.
• Ensure adherence to automotive service contracts and assist with the analyses and reporting of Fleet Operations, tracking and collisions.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance inspections (PMIs); auto body, engine, transmission, and warranty issues; recalls and other repairs. Work with Operations and borough coordinators to schedule fleet initiatives
• Monitor the work of repair vendors and fleet repair partnerships and serve as liaison with other City Agencies. Track out-of-service vehicles and identify vehicles for replacement.
• Manage contract costs and ensure that contractors bill Parks properly and according to contract specifications. Maintain repair and billing records and coordinate billing with Parks Purchasing unit.
• Promote vehicle and equipment best practices and fleet sustainability initiatives.
• Supervise complex projects that require prompt attention and resolution.
• Produce accurate and well-written reports, presentations and correspondence that meet the criteria established by the supervisor.
• Enforce compliance with Agency rules, regulations, standards of conduct and vehicle operating procedures.
Minimum Qual Requirements
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in “1” above.
Preferred Skills
1. Bachelor’s degree.
2. Experience with fleet and fleet management.
3. Excellent administrative, customer service and communication skills.
4. Familiarity with equipment and vehicle repair.
5. Experience working with vendors and contractors.
6. Adept with computers and technology. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and FleetFocus.
7. Valid New York State driver license.
