Summary

This position is for Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) at Fort Drum, New York. FMWR includes Child and Youth Services, Business Recreation, and Support Services, which enable Soldier readiness, support the resiliency and well-being of Soldiers and Families.

Duties

  • Supervises and oversees the management and operation of the Magrath Sports Complex, Mission Aquatics, and Recreational Aquatics programs.
  • Coordinates with higher management to meet goals and objectives within deadlines and participates in the Recreation Delivery System (RDS) process.
  • Assists in the development of budgetary and manpower requirements and recommends adjustments due to changes in program demands or hours of operation.
  • Publicizes sports facilities, programs, and events by writing articles for local newspapers and coordinates with marketing for posters, flyers and other promotional material.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Possesses and maintains the following certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED.
  • Must complete the following course(s)/class: MWR Orientation Course, Customer Service, and Equipment (Safe Operation and Basic Maintenance Repair).
  • A one-year Supervisory probationary period may be required.
  • Management reserves the right to reassign employees to other facilities.
  • Work schedule may be irregular. The incumbent may be required to work, nights, weekends, holidays and/or special events.

Qualifications

All candidates MUST meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • directly related work experience in planning, supervising, administering or carrying out a sports program that included a variety of individual and team sports and guiding participants in developing the skills needed for participation in sports activities and teaching the techniques of various sports.

Allowances, Incentives, and PCS Costs:

  • Allowances, differentials, or incentives may be paid.
    • Night differential and Sunday Premium Pay have NOT been authorized by the Garrison Commander for Non-Bargaining NF positions and will not be paid to any Non-Bargaining NF employees.
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is in the Government’s interest.
    • In accordance with the Joint Travel Regulations, most individuals will be authorized movement of Household Goods, Temporary Storage, and Air, POV, or Rail Transportation to your new duty station. A rental car is NOT authrized. In additin, some individuals may also be authorized Temporary Quarters Subsistence Expenses (TQSE).
