Financial Reporting Accountant 2

OBM is seeking an experienced Financial Reporting Accountant 2 who will focus on GAAP reporting of the state’s annual $70+ billion in activity. Financial Reporting Accountants participate in the compilation of the state’s 300+ page Annual Comprehensive Financial Report which undergoes the largest governmental financial statement audit in Ohio. This position also coordinates with state agencies to obtain federal grant expenditure activity for inclusion in the state’s Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards and assists in researching and implementing required Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements. Other duties are:

  • Collect and analyze state agency financial reporting packages (Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) for accuracy and completeness.
  • Compile state agency financial reporting information into one overall SEFA ensuring accuracy and completeness as well as other related schedules for Single Audit inclusion.
  • Prepare and present financial reporting training materials and provide guidance to state agency personnel.
  • Ensure SEFA and other related schedules for Single Audit inclusion are grammatically correct, free of typos, and professionally presented.
  • Research federal guidance related to financial reports, applicable Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements, appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and financial reporting policies and procedures as they relate to assigned work.
  • Assess assigned state agency funds for inclusion in State agency GAAP Reporting Packages (GRP) – research/determine potential yearend accruals for posting in the GL and create/update GRP fund descriptions.
  • Analyze state agency GRP schedules and responses for reasonableness and prepare accurate workpapers to support accruals made in the GL.
  • Participates in preparation of the state’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
  • Runs reports and queries in the State’s Ohio Administrative Knowledge System (OAKS.

Teleworking

Subject to OBM’s teleworking policy and an approved teleworking agreement, this position is eligible to work from a remote location on a hybrid basis. The selected applicant may be required to complete initial trainings prior to being eligible to telework. All requests to telework are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and must be approved by OBM’s Director of Human Resources and management, subject to the conditions outlined in the agency policy and teleworking agreement.

Qualifications
Completion of graduate core program in accounting or related area.
-Or completion of undergraduate major core program in accounting; 1 yr. work exp. as accountant or CPA.
-Or 3 yrs. trg. or 3 yrs. exp. in governmental accounting or auditing.
-Or 6 mos. exp. as Financial Reporting Accountant 1, 66211.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
