Job Description

Pay Grade: L

Under general supervision, confirms the integrity of financial statements, verifies assets, determines liabilities, and ensures compliance with state laws and regulations by interpreting laws and policies, and auditing records, transactions, and financial data. May require special certification.
Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Performs audits/reviews in accordance with Auditing Standards.
  • Develops written audit reports.
  • Conducts audits of internal controls, financial, compliance, operations, or other activities of varied complexity.
  • Researches and solves more complex compliance problems.
  • Identifies and evaluates audit risk.
  • Performs audit procedures, including identifying and defining issues, developing criteria, reviewing and analyzing evidence, and documenting client processes and procedures.
  • Conducts interviews, reviews documents, develops and administers surveys, composes summary memos, and prepares working papers.
  • Identifies, develops and documents audit issues and recommendations for improvement using independent judgment concerning areas being reviewed.
  • Communicates or assists in communicating the results of audit and consulting projects via written reports and oral presentations on a timely basis.
  • Represents internal auditing work unit on organizational project teams, at management meetings, and with external organizations.
  • Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business administration or a related field from an accredited college or university.

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field from an accredited college or university AND One (1) year of experience required at the lower level Financial Examiner 1 (RCP110) or position equivalent.

OR

  • Four (4) years of experience in a related area.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all the following skills/experience.

  • Master’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related financial field from an approved accredited college or university AND one (1) year of related work experience.

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related financial field from an approved accredited college or university AND two (2) years of auditing or related work experience.

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance or a related financial field from an approved accredited college or university AND any of the following certification designations: Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP), Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA), Certification in Control Self-Assessment (CCSA) and Certification in Risk Management Assurance
