The Financial Analyst I analyzes statistical information, from a variety of sources, including patient care, financial, and demographic data. They prepare reports for units throughout the organizations, as well as the Board of Directors.
This position is remote, with the option to work in the office if preferred. The hire will be required to report on-site for meetings as needed. The selected candidate must reside in North Carolina.
Responsibilities & Duties
Prepare, analyze and report on Non-Medicaid UCR and Non-UCR budgets and financial reports
- Track and report Federal, state and county UCR and non-UCR programs based on a complete end to end understanding of where a given program is in regards to contract status, current spending vs. budget, revenue received to actual and the reporting of those programs or services.
- Conduct variance analysis for actual to budget/forecast
- Prepare state milestone reports, including analysis of why state related UCR and Non-UCR programs and services are underfunded or under spent.
- Prepare and analyze reports for Non-Medicaid budget to actual for UCR and Non-UCR revenue and expenses
Analyze Financial information
- Provide support for the development and management of quarterly forecast and annual budget cycles.
- Analyze financial information to determine present and future financial performance
- Identify trends and recommend improvements
- Establish databases of pertinent information for use in analyzing future plans and forecasts
- Evaluate financial and service delivery data using analytical methods and available software to identify trends in fiscal operations and service delivery
- Collaborate with colleagues to identify, analyze, and resolve data related problems and assure that data collected is of high quality and unsullied integrity
- Develop programs and data that can be used for data analysis and presentation
- Develop programs and data that can be used for data analysis and presentation;
Performance Management Committee Liaison
- Prepare financial results related to Non-Medicaid UCR and Non-UCR budget vs. actual for revenue and expense variances
- Analyze and document reasons for over and under spending associated with Non-Medicaid and Non-UCR Programs
Prepare and analyze ad hoc reports
- Work with the Provider Network department to ensure that providers are billing for all appropriate Non-UCR services and state related claims.
- Work with Accounts Payable to ensure that provider related billing is paid on a timely basis to ensure accurate month-end reporting.
- Prepare Ad hoc reports as requested
- Analyze discrepancies or issues with provider billing as it relates to over or under spending within programs
Assist in development of internal processes and make recommendations for improvement
- Develop mathematical model templates that can be used with other departments to predict impact of authorizations
- Develop internal processes and analytical models
- Develop, Interpret, and Implement financial concepts for financial planning and control
- Develop and report key financial performance metrics for management.
- Conduct special studies to analyze complex financial actions and prepare recommendations for policies, procedures, controls, and actions
- Make recommendations to management regarding cost saving opportunities and profitability improvement strategies.
- Assist in areas such as operating budgets, productivity monitoring, bimonthly financial projections, statistical analysis and financial analysis as requested

Minimum Education & Experience-
Associates Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Public Policy, Hospital Administration, or related field and at least four (4) years of related experience in financial analysis with demonstrated capacity to independently draw inferences and to communicate findings or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Public Policy, Hospital Administration, or related field and at least two (2) years of related experience in financial analysis with demonstrated capacity to independently draw inferences and to communicate findings
Additional Training Preferred:
A background in managed healthcare, insurance operations preferred
Salary Range
$53,434.20 to $91,985.60/Annually
Exact compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s education, experience, external market data and consideration of internal equity.
