JOB TITLE: Facilities Maintenance Technician I

Warren-Newport Public Library is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our fun and friendly team. This is a full-time non-exempt position at 37.50 hours weekly.
Hiring Range: $18.00-$23.00 (DOQ)
Salary Range: $13.50-$26.94

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Sets up, arranges, and removes decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, scaffolding, wired and wireless microphones, and video projectors to prepare facilities for events such as library programs and meetings.
• Performs afternoon porter services, which includes emptying garbage cans, cleaning and disinfecting toilets and urinals, replenishing soap dispensers, and mopping/sanitizing hard surface floors.
• Responds to maintenance requests using issue tracking software.
• Performs routine and scheduled general maintenance activities including but not limited to light bulb replacement, ceiling tile replacement, minor HVAC, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and grounds.
• Assists Head of Facilities with overseeing the routine maintenance and upkeep of the library’s fleet of vehicles.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• May include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long period and wet or uneven surfaces.
• Requires a full range of body motion including standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires bending, stooping, reaching in tight spaces, shoveling, and climbing stairs and ladders.
• Must be able to move a two-sided book cart (with four wheels) loaded with up to 100 lbs. of books or other materials.
• Must possess manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination when moving library materials or operating automated equipment and power tools.
• Must be able to lift boxes of books, paper, or other library materials weighing up to 70 lbs.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Two or more years related facility and maintenance experience or equivalent experience
• Technical and/or mechanical training or education or equivalent experience preferred
• Demonstrated proficiency with mechanical equipment and/or automation may be substituted for formal training.
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Proficiency at reading schematics and blueprints.
• Valid driver’s license with excellent driving record.
