This position is located in Edmond/North OKC
The Extrusion Press Operator is responsible for safely running the extrusion press. This includes daily safety checks, monitoring the heating and loading of billets into the press, monitoring the material as it is extruded for consistency and ability to perform hot die changes. This operator requires the employee to constantly lift 35lb billets and be exposed to high temperatures, the operator will also be required to wear heat reflective Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the duration of the shift.
A Day in the Life of an Extrusion Press Operator:
- Adjust, calibrate and test equipment at the beginning of every shift to ensure proper pressure, speed, temperature and general operation
- Examine visually, weigh and measure components created from equipment to ensure machines are producing according to company and industry regulations and standards, adjusting as needed
- Work with team members, maintenance personnel and leaders to ensure any complications are dealt with quickly and correctly
- Communicate with fellow team members to learn of any equipment problems or malfunctions and take care of them as they come up
- Maintain and clean equipment using regulated cleaning solutions, grease guns, oil cans, air hoses and cleaning cloths
- Choose and install cutters, molds and all other necessary equipment parts so machines are always operating at peak efficiency – This includes changing dies
- Communicate clearly and accurately to the following shift to ensure a smooth handoff
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace
- Other duties as necessary

Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in a production environment is preferred
- Experience operating an extrusion press or operating similar machinery is preferred
- Ability to read drawings and measurement equipment is required
Computer Skills: Basic use of Microsoft Office preferred
Other beneficial qualifications:
- Comfortable doing hot work and being consistently exposed to high temperatures
- Knowledge of safe workplace practices in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with others Ability to work quickly and efficiently
