Communications Specialist
Job Description:
Develops a communication program in collaboration with SFFGS Extension Faculty to promote SFFGS
Extension efforts to various stakeholder groups. Collects, writes, edits, and posts content in various media
and formats, with a focus on digital media, including stories and announcements for SFFGS blogs, social
media, electronic displays, newsletter, websites, and email lists. Promotes educational/training materials.
Works collaboratively with the SFFGS Communications Specialist.
Provides document layout, formatting, and graphics support for print and digital media products, including
newsletter layout and production, graphics for website and other media, communications, and promotion
support for SFFGS Extension events, and other SFFGS communications products. Builds and manages
image and graphics libraries for use in Extension and marketing and communications activities.
Provides administrative support to SFFGS Extension Coordinators – organizes Extension Council
Meetings, communicates with extension faculty on behalf of coordinators, takes notes, facilitates ongoing
discussion, assists with RREA reporting.
Helps support SFFGS Extension Program with logistics. Arranges venues, sets up Eventbrite, books hotel
rooms, works with caterers and other vendors, supports billing and travel.
Develops standardized and customized evaluation for SFFGS Extension programming to assist with
reporting, T&P, and program improvement.
Expected Salary:
$40,000 to $55,000.00
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
M.S. in Communications, Journalism, Ag Education, Forestry, Fisheries, or a related field

* Understanding of print and digital media as well as experience with developing and implementing strategic
communications
* Ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders
* Accuracy and attention to detail
* Excellent time management skills
* Experience with extension program evaluation
