Position Description

Redhorse Corporation has an immediate need for an Existing Building Commissioning Specialist. The successful candidate will have a strong background in implementing energy efficiency strategies in existing building and facilities operations. Special skill sets include the ability to work and collaborate with existing energy management and building engineering teams to analyze data to provide recommendations to improve system operations and reduce consumption within Region 8 federal buildings. The key responsibility of this position is to ensure that the systems and equipment in existing buildings are operating as intended and the BAS sequences and setpoints are optimal (ongoing commissioning). The goal of this position is to develop a systematic process aimed at minimizing building energy consumption by identifying and correcting operational problems that plague buildings at no-cost or low-cost solutions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

    • Participate in and make recommendations to drive the optimization of the facilities management.
    • Think strategically and plan, organize, coordinate, across multiple programs in a large organization.
    • Employ, document, and measure energy efficient operational strategies across facilities.
    • Ability to ensure follow-up using a clear action plan identifying roles and responsibilities.
    • Ability to draft new processes, optimize processes as necessary, and communicate processes as required, both internally and externally.
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from building management, including operations and maintenance team(s).
    • Support the implementation of operational improvement strategy.
    • Have leadership skills to develop and grow an in-house commissioning team.

Minimum Requirements for Skills, Experience, and Credentials include:

    • 5+ years of energy management in a multi-site existing building setting.
    • Strong building automation systems (BAS) experience, including energy efficiency strategy sequencing knowledge.
    • Write and execute functional test procedures for key energy systems.
    • Self-starter; candidates must have a track record of achieving large, complex goals without direct supervision.
    • Familiarity with utility rate structures, utility bills, and usage patterns.
    • Thorough understanding of HVAC systems and operational improvements.
    • Ability to optimize existing operations and procedures, including looking at future environmental factors and applying adaptability/evolution.
    • Energy Star Portfolio Manager.
    • Federal facilities work preferred.
    • Ability and willingness to travel regionally.
    • Microsoft Office Suite experience with the ability to perform duties remotely.
    • Physical ability and willingness to walk job sites with uneven terrain.
    • Provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits away from the office (to be reimbursed).
    • Attend meetings and perform tasks for long periods of time on a computer, on the telephone and remotely.

$115,000 – $145,000 a year
