Executive Writer, AWS Product Marketing

Can you write copy that crisply conveys business-value propositions with a high level of storytelling? Do you have experience in preparing top-level executives across a variety of engagements, from prerecorded videos to live events? Are you comfortable juggling multiple deadlines and stakeholder inputs? Do you have a passion for extending the voice of an executive across multiple channels and touch points?

The AWS Keynote and Speaking Team is responsible for developing crisp, highly-differentiated, and compelling scripts and talking points for AWS executives. We tell the most important and interesting stories to educate customers about what is possible when you build on AWS.

The ideal candidate is an excellent writer, a creative thinker with a passion for technology, and has experience preparing executives for both extemporaneous and scripted speaking engagements. You are someone who can deliver top-notch written material and create standard-setting content that will advance the thought leadership position of AWS worldwide. You demonstrate high judgement and can adapt a core message to multiple audiences, both internal and external. You must have meticulous attention to detail, a collaborative working style, and relish the numerous and nitty-gritty revision cycles of executive-level speaker prep.

Be ready to show us that you can absorb a highly technical topic quickly and distill it into compelling ideas that appeal to different audiences. Also, be prepared to demonstrate your ability to edit the writing of others and raise the bar on the quality and impact of key content.

This position must be located in Seattle, WA. Relocation offered to this location only from within the US only for external candidates.

Key job responsibilities
• Research and write talking points and scripts that demonstrate the benefits of cloud technology
• Translate technical concepts into memorable messages
• Understand our various audiences and tune content to their needs and perspectives
• Become fluent in the style, tone, and voice of both the AWS brand and specific executives
• Influence and maintain global, organization-wide consistency for written communications
• Serve as a bar raiser and coach for writing quality in marketing (reviewing, editing, and quality checking)
• Some travel (25% or less) is required

A day in the life

In a typical day, you will work with both internal and external stakeholders to intake requests, develop informed and thoughtful recommendations on which invitations are the best use of executives’ time, or prepare messaging and logistics overview documents. You will work with a cross-team group of messaging professionals to help ensure seamless and coordinated support to executives.

Some days you will provide on-site executive support for speaking engagements that vary from scripted video, live-streamed fireside chats, or live speeches.
