Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a self-motivated, high-judgment, well-connected, and experienced public relations professional to join its communications team in Seattle to lead Executive Communications. The right candidate possesses extensive media relations experience, top tier media relationships, and is an expert communicator adept at translating complex technology concepts into stories people across the world can understand. They are also always constantly ahead of the news cycle, have significant experience with issues management, a seasoned and mature team-member, and can execute calm and rational high-judgment decisions, while acting quickly.
An Executive Communications Leader for AWS partners across the AWS business and provides strategic counsel to our CEO and other business leaders in high-profile, global communications situations. This person will frequently be called on to be at the center of a cross-functional team working on a project basis, and must be comfortable working across a range of countries, cultures, and business units.
The ideal candidate enjoys developing inspirational stories, to explain how AWS is innovating to help customers and partners around the world, and then telling these stories to top tier media and on social channels to inspire our customers and partners. They are motivated by a dynamic, highly creative culture where the challenge of breaking new ground and redefining best practices is welcome. In this role, the candidate will also have an opportunity to innovate new and interesting communications and influencer relations strategies.

Responsibilities:
The Executive Communications Leader for AWS will:
• Develop and strengthen relationships with business and technology journalists and influencers
• Work closely with the CEO and other members of our senior leadership team to develop and communicate AWS’s top stories and strategic messages
• Manage complex, fast-moving communications challenges with high-judgment and professionalism
• Write and edit blogs, pitches, executive emails, social content, and communications plans
• Define, develop, and oversee end-to-end execution of PR strategy and programs to show the positive impact of AWS on customers, partners, and communities around the world
• Work cross-functionally to plan and execute PR campaigns
• Support the development and execution of events and media engagements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 10+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience
– Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or a related field

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $120,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $224,300/year in our highest geographic market.
