Overview

We are looking for an Event Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team. We are searching for a detail-oriented, proactive, driven, and collaborative professional who will be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of all Moody Center event accounting processes.

This role will pay a salary of $60,000 to $65,000.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as point person for all event related items including but not limited to event revenue, event expenses, promoter point of contact, event settlements, flash reports, P&L, and any other event related items.
  • Responsible for event settlements night of the event
  • Create, finalize, and distribute event flash reports within 48-72 hours of the event.
  • Create and post event journal entries.
  • Analyze event P&L for accuracy after the event has been recorded by staff accountants.
  • Compare the actuals event P&L vs flash report.
  • Analyze the variance between event income vs event budget.
  • Prepare local and state tax returns to be filed in a timely manner.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations
  • Lead other special projects as requested by leadership.
  • Participates in other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • May require extensive walking through the building, exposure to loud noises, climbing of stairs, and working in normal office conditions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar focus
  • 2 years minimum of relevant work experience; experience with events in stadiums, arenas, or other venues is preferred.
  • Experience analyzing data for accuracy.
  • Superior Excel skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Ability to learn quickly, open to change and enjoy the challenge of unfamiliar tasks
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and ambiguous environment; handle multiple tasks with the ability to re-prioritize and shift priorities quickly
  • Written/Oral communications – ability to speak and write clearly and concisely, get messages across that have the desired effect
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of nights, weekends and holiday
