The Engineering Intern will assist the Engineering Team in supporting existing product lines and new products for the Sarasota Legacy OE and Rotating Machines departments. The Intern would be a part of the team responsible for the support of the Industrialization of new product lines, for the support and improvement of existing manufacturing product lines, for the design of electronics in charge of PCB design and for supporting product testing in our laboratories.

Additional description
Required Education and/or Experience
• Student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (or international equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, and/or other similar engineering degrees.
• Experience with CAD for 3D modeling and drafting.
• Microsoft Office Skills.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills:
• Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Lean manufacturing knowledge.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to read, interpret and apply Engineering Standards.
• Ability to read and create electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Hands on experience with electrical and mechanical systems.
• Hands on experience with machining processes.

Candidate skills & requirements
Assists the Engineering team in any combination of the following, in alignment with the assignments:
• Identifying and solving problems pertaining to design and manufacturing processes
• Evaluating of the use of non-conforming parts, processes and assemblies to determine their usability in the end product and ensuring that the quality and functionality of the product will be maintained.
• Evaluating obsolete materials, parts and components and identifies sources for direct replacement including changes proposed by Purchasing and Suppliers.
• Participating in developing internal engineering and design validation test programs, participate in testing as needed, and documents results
• Participating in documents changes in design, bill of material, test methods using CR/CN process.
• Participate in supporting and resolving 8D problem solving investigations.
• Documenting manufacturing processes through work instructions and process routers including completing time studies of existing and new processes.
• Evaluating existing and new manufacturing processes and tooling for best methods on new Products.
• Evaluating existing manufacturing processes, improved tooling, and best methods.
• Performing root cause investigations.
• Participating in the strong synergies between entities including foreign entities.
• Participating in designing, developing, qualifying, supporting and managing obsolescence of electronic PCBs by focusing on safety, cost, reliability, sustainability and quality.
• Participating in a project from the conceptual idea and detailed design to testing, qualification and industrialization, including but not limited to analysis, validation and verification plan.
• Conducting specifications and requirements based design activities.
• Working in an integrated program team with representative of quality, supply chain, industrialization, production, sales & marketing, program, configuration management and other engineering representative with timeline, cost and technical requirements objectives
• Working with the test group in our laboratories to define test plans, execution of tests, analyze of test results and tests reports.
• Generating 3D CAD models for tooling and fixtures and prototypes using 3D printers.
• Adhere to safe work practices and contributes to the evolution of the health, safety, and environmental program and culture.
• Other duties or projects as assigned.
• Regular, predictable attendance is required.
• Must be willing to work overtime as necessary.
• Occasional travel may be required (less than 10%)
