Energy Logistics Analyst I

Summary

The Energy Logistics Analyst I provides elite financial analysis which supports as well as enhances the operations of NYPA’s Fuel Department. This role serves as a critical source for Management as a key factor in making business decisions. The function of a Energy Logistics Analyst I is designed to constantly measure the effectiveness of such decisions, and to identify the financial impacts of new opportunities in which NYPA may take part. Insightful research capabilities, both material and financial, along with strong communication skills are a must for success in this role. #LI-CJ1

Responsibilities

  • Review and update departmental Key Performance Indicator (KPI) measures in company database.
  • Manage oil inventory through oil inspection nominations and results.
  • Perform quality control through Certificate of Analysis (COA) provided by independent oil inspectors.
  • Organize and maintain clean database of procedures and documentation.
  • Perform statistical analysis on pipeline capacity allocations provided by Local Distribution Companies.
  • Perform price trend analysis for natural gas and oil pertaining to NYPA fossil generation.
  • Develop and refine process controls over fuel data communication.
  • Review fuel data on departmental web portal
  • Plan and prioritize projects involving fuel operation enhancements.
  • Collaborate with fellow data analysts within department on ad-hoc assignments.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Intermediate knowledge of North American Natural Gas and Utility operations
  • Strong data analytics or research abilities
  • General knowledge of accounting practices
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong time-management qualities
  • Microsoft Office savvy – PowerPoint, Excel Graphs & Charts, Excel Add-Ins, Excel Macro

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Business Administration, Economics, or related discipline
  • Minimum (3) years of experience in the Gas and/or Electric Industry

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work seated at a desk and occasionally travel via vehicle, train, or airplane
