Job Description
Johnson County Developmental Supports (JCDS) is looking for qualified applicants to fill the position of Competitive Employment Job Coach (Senior Direct Support Provider). JCDS is a service provider for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities. This position will be responsible for performing routine activities related to the health, safety, and welfare of individuals receiving services. This position is assigned to provide support for individuals seeking and/or maintaining competitive employment within Johnson County. First review of candidates will be April 28, 2023. Job duties include:
- Coach and train individuals on various vocational and social skills to enable productive community employment by: training on job tasks specific to the employer; teaching appropriate social interactions with co-workers and supervisors; teaching interpersonal skills; evaluating performance on the job; teaching how to recognize and respond to abuse, neglect or exploitation.
- Maintain documentation, including evaluating and documenting individual progress toward person centered support plan objectives and communicating progress toward plan objectives; evaluating performance on the job; recording other related data relevant to person centered support plan.
- Communicate between agencies, employers and family, guardians, case managers, and others as needed. Keep other parties updated regarding any status changes; maintain positive business relations with work site employer; develop future job leads in the business community.
- Provide appropriate medical, physical or behavioral guidance as needed to individuals to maintain employment.
- Transport individuals as needed.
Job Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience working in a human services field are required. A valid driver’s license and good driving record are also required.
This position requires performance of various physical components at defined standards for the safety of employees and individuals served.
Education may be substituted for experience.
Candidate must be able to successfully complete criminal and motor vehicle background screenings, which includes KDADS required screenings and registry checks.
