Emergency Room Tech

Salary range is based on skills, experience, education, and location:

Local:$21.33/hour – $26.67/hour W-2

Travel: $25.33/hour – $31.67/hour W-2.

Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, and 401K (provided minimum eligibility hours are met)

Schedule Notes: 12-hour nights 1900-0700 is first preference. Manager would consider 8-hour nights 2300-0700

FTE: .9. Up to 2 weekends per month. No floating. No on call.

Job Title: Emergency Room Tech

The Emergency Room Technician (ERT) is directly accountable to the ED Charge Nurse and the RN who is delegating tasks to him/her.

Responsibilities:

  • This position is also responsible for department support activities done independently.
  • The ERT must be a self-directed individual who demonstrates the ability to prioritize assignments and work in partnership with the RN.
  • The ERT is accountable for all patients care he/she gives.
  • Age range of patients served are neonates, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Job Expectations: Applies monitoring equipment, measures vital signs, performs blood pressure/pulse readings.
  • Assist with bathing, dressing, undressing, ambulating, and obtaining specimens from patients.
  • Reports abnormal vital signs, unusual appearance in body fluids and changes in the patient’s appearance and notify RN.
  • Correctly documents tasks performed. Assisting patients and families with orientation, discharge, provide comfort and safety of patients/families. Application of orthopedic splints and devices.
  • Application of dressings. Perform wound cleansing, catheterizations, and enemas.
  • Uses sterile technique proficiently.
  • Performs BLS and assists with critical patients.
  • Uses proper cleaning technique on ED instruments and equipment.
  • Monitors the instrument inventory and send instruments to SPD as necessary.
  • Stocks and cleans the department as needed. Maintains supplies in specific areas and on supply carts.
  • Reorders supplies as needed.
  • Demonstrates functional knowledge of emergency plans and location of Disaster manual.
  • Organization Expectations, as applicable: Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served Fulfills all organizational requirements.
  • Completes all required learning relevant to the role Complies with all relevant laws, regulation, and policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Partners with patient care giver in care/decision making. Communicates in a respectful manner.
  • Ensures a safe, secure environment.
  • Individualizes plan of care to meet patient needs.
  • Modifies clinical interventions based on population served.
  • Provides patient education based on as assessment of learning needs of patient/care giver.

Education:

  • Completion of Emergency Medical Tech (EMT) coursework or Nursing Assistant coursework

Licenses/certification:

  • Emergency Room Technician (ERT) or CNA certification or EMT certification
  • BLS through AHA
