Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and service-oriented Veterinary Technician to join our team in the Emergency and Critical Care Service. Our ECC veterinary service technicians are an integral part of our service. They work closely with the clinicians and clients to provide daily management of inpatients and continually work to improve patient care and customer service
Example of Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Act as a liaison between the ICU technician assigned to the care of each patient and the ICU doctor
- Assist the clinician with the preparation of treatment sheets, lab submissions, radiology/anesthesia and surgical requests, etc.
- Act as a point of contact for owners of hospitalized patients
- Facilitate patient visits
- Client education
- Act as a charge nurse ensuring appropriate charges are entered for inpatients
- Assisting with evaluations and rechecks
- Performing triage assessments
- General nursing case such as venipuncture, catheter placement, patient restraint, treatments, medication administration, and sample collection
- Basic anesthesia and sedation procedures including patient monitoring and recovery
- Participation in rounds with the clinicians and students
Shifts Include:
- Sat- Tuesday 7am-5pm
- Sun- Wed 1pm-11pm
- Wed-Sat 1pm-11pm
Earn up to 20% shift differential on top of base pay for applicable shifts.
Expected Salary:
Veterinary Technician I: $20-25/hr
Veterinary Technician II: $23-30/hr
Minimum Requirements:
Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Technician I: High school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience
Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Technician II: Credentialed veterinary technician
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prefer applicants with 3-5 years of experience in emergency and/or critical care medicine.
- Graduation from an accredited veterinary technology program and/or certified veterinary technician or eligible to sit for the VTNE.
- Knowledge of animal care and nursing, especially critical care.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and terminology.
- Knowledge of the equipment and materials used and their availability and applications.
- Ability to effectively maintain a working environment while in stressful situations.
- Ability to effectively communicate with employees of various levels and responsibilities.
