Electrical Estimator (Prefab Department)

Dubak Electrical Group has an opening for an Electrical Estimator in our Prefabrication department due to our growth. A strong predictor of success for an Estimator would be to estimate project costs confidently and accurately, while working within the team environment. A proficient estimator should also be able to complete estimates within the required bid cycles.

The ideal candidate would have previous working knowledge of electrical installations, estimating techniques and job costing controls, and be an excellent communicator. They should have a strong understanding of industrial and electrical industry practices, processes and standards and their cost impact on project activities.

Job expectations for the position:

  • Create and compile detailed, accurate electrical estimates
  • Consults with clients, procurement, subcontractors, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates
  • Interfaces with Procurement and Operations to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates
  • Analyze historical data and provides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures
  • Identifies cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts
  • Review documents for gaps and overlaps in scope of work
  • Assemble material and labor costs for clients and proposals for Prefab projects
  • Prepare and deliver bid packages to subcontractors
  • Present estimating information and attend Pre-construction meetings
  • Develop project summary schedules
  • Responsible for reviewing specialty and standard equipment pricing
  • Responsible for the accuracy and validity of estimate clarifications and assumptions
  • Analyze and price value engineering for submission
  • Thorough knowledge of company procedures, estimating techniques, various construction disciplines, cost control systems required
  • Ability to work independently or in groups, think creatively and analytically, and make quick and sound decisions
  • Demonstrate attention to detail
  • Prepare complex proposals with minimum supervision
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned according to the project, needs of the client and organization

Position Requirements:

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency using estimating software; Accubid software knowledge is desired
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (must possess clear and concise technical writing skills)
  • Experience with job costing
  • Working knowledge with electrical (High/Expert), mechanical (General), pipe work (General), civil work (General), structural work (General)
  • Ability to coordinate multiple craft labor resources
  • Ability to understand and coordinate installation methods of civil, mechanical, and electrical works, as to prevent physical interference of the final installed product between the three installation types
  • Collaborate with project managers to anticipate estimating costs and resolve any issues proactively
  • Ability to understand project scheduling and man-power loading
  • Detailed knowledge base of industrial electrical estimating methods in the areas including Power, Control, Automation, Instrumentation, Lighting, Contract Maintenance, Data/Voice, Fiber Optic Wiring, Project Management is preferred
  • Ability to learn, and desire to learn and participate in continuing education through inter-company training, seminar, and select university resource training as directed, provided, and requested by the company, at the company’s expense
  • Ability to review and approve cost proposals and meaningful value engineering analysis for clients without sacrificing safety or quality
  • Self-starter/self leadership to complete projects within bid time constraints (time management)
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Travel may be required up to 20% of the time

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of electrical estimating experience is preferred

Education:

  • Minimum of High school or equivalent
