Job Description
Dix Park is located near downtown Raleigh. The park encompasses 308 acres of open grass and building space. Over the course of the year the park hosts a variety of public programs and events. In 2021, the park opened the first indoor event space through the renovation of the Dix Park Chapel.
Event and Facility Specialists will facilitate indoor and outdoor Dix Park events and support facility operations. Becoming a part of the Dix Park team will give you the opportunity to be part of the most exciting park project in the nation and support the greater Raleigh community.
This position works evening and weekend hours with occasional weekday availability. Ideal applicants will have flexible availability on nights and weekends.
Duties and Responsibilities
Dix Park Event and Facility Specialists support the Dix Park Operations with event and facility operations. Specifically, specialists:
- Support event logistics and execution including interacting with the public at Dix Park events, support event activities, assist with event parking and wayfinding.
- Support Chapel Event Center events and operations including managing Chapel Event Center facility during operating hours, greet and interact with the public, providing customers, providing tours of Event Center for events, being aware of the details of contracts for specific events, ensuring that rental policies and procedures are followed and assist with event set up and tear down of equipment.
- Position involves physical movement and work in a variety of indoor and outdoor climates during all times of the year. Position will be expected to lift, pull, and push up to 50 lbs, sometimes on hills and uneven terrain.
Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Presenting a professional and welcoming appearance and attitude.
• Engaging guests and responding to inquiries.
• Displaying courtesy towards all patrons.
• Maintaining order and providing clear direction during emergency situations.
• Communicating with supervisors concerning patron concerns or issues.
• Attending mandatory trainings and meetings at various locations throughout the city.
• Other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
The ideal applicant is comfortable interacting with patrons over the phone and in person. This can include addressing last-minute changes and delays or needs while maintaining a professional and positive demeanor. Individuals must be enthusiastic about working with diverse populations and large crowds. The applicant needs to be confident in creatively and independently problem-solving issues that may arise, sometimes without direct supervision. The applicant must be aware of safety procedures and policies needed in the event of emergencies. This position also may be called upon to perform occasional spot cleaning and light housekeeping duties as needed before & after events. Applicants must be at least eighteen (18) years old for consideration.
