POSITION SUMMARY
The Director, Public Relations, reporting to the Director of Marketing and Audience, will help tell Trinity Church Wall Street’s story and help increase awareness of our mission and works. They will develop and execute an effective communication and media relations programs including nurturing a strong industry network and managing outside agencies.
The annual salary range for this position is $143,300 to $158,600.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop media relations strategy, seeking high-level placements in print, broadcast and online media.
- Coordinate all public relations activities, working in collaboration with colleagues in Ministry and the Office of the Rector.
- Develop rapid response processes and hold knowledge of Trinity Church issue areas to assure timely response and reactions.
- Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within music, philanthropic, and religious media.
- Manage media inquiries and interview requests.
- Create press releases, place bylined articles and keynote presentations.
- Monitor, analyze and communicate PR results on a quarterly basis.
- Build Trinity experts as thought-leaders to increase industry awareness of our philanthropic activities.
- Adhere to confidentiality rules and all other Trinity policies, procedures, and rules.
- Perform all duties in a manner that promotes Trinity’s mission, vision, and core values.
- Assume other related responsibilities and special projects as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ACTIVITIES
- 10+ years of experience in public relations for a not-for-profit organization.
- Proven track record designing and executing successful public relations campaigns at both a local and national level.
- Strong relationships with both local and national business and industry media outlets
- Exceptional writing and editing skills.
- Familiarity with one or more of the following issue areas in which Trinity Church works: racial justice criminal justice, housing insecurity, food insecurity, immigration, mental health, climate.
- Familiarity with real estate and investment issues in New York City, or willingness to build that knowledge set.
REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CREDENTIALS
- BA/MA degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or a related discipline
