Job Summary:
As the Director of Venue Operations and Rentals, you will lead the management of the Abrons Arts Center’s 40,000 square foot facility and studio and theater rentals program. You will ensure that our facility is maintained at an exceptional level to support the activities of the Arts Center team, artists, audiences, and clients. You will also lead on the business strategy for our studio and theater rentals program, with the goal of expanding our client portfolio and rental opportunities for our facilities.
You will report to the Vice President of Visual and Performing Arts and manage a Studio and Theater Rentals Manager. You will collaborate with Henry Street Settlement’s facilities, information technology and purchasing teams, as well as the Center’s programming, production, and education teams to align on space usage processes and protocols.

You will have:
- 5 years of experience in event venue management and/or facilities operations experience working in nonprofit arts organizations is a plus.
- Jovial, warm, and professional demeanor
- Sales experience for venues
- Advanced project management, producing and solutions-oriented problem-solving capacities.
- Experience in film, television and corporate client business development and relationship management
- Impeccable attention to detail for facilities maintenance
- Attentiveness regarding facilities accessibility for audiences and clients with disabilities
You will lead the venue operations program by:
- Liaising with Henry Street Settlement facilities and information technology teams to identify, coordinate access and implement facilities maintenance and upgrades, including scheduling repairs, maintenance, and management of compliance inspections.
- Supporting operating procedures and internal policies pertaining to facilities operations
- Serving as institutional liaison with contractors for the Center’s capital construction projects
- Maintaining compliance with the Center’s COVID mitigation protocols and supply needs
- Managing facility security protocols and system
- Tracking inventory, maintenance, and purchasing of program supplies
- Serving as lead administrator of space management software
- Facilitating facility and information technology onboarding of new team members and resident artists
- Supporting administration and execution of all team meetings
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
You will lead the studio and theater rentals program by:
- Identifying, soliciting, and securing new and diverse client base, with the goal of making the best use of the arts center’s spaces and
- Exceeding rental revenue goals
- Creating standard operating procedures and internal policies pertaining to rentals
- Collaborating with the Center’s presenting, education, and production teams to understand the Center’s programming schedules to effectively make use of the facility’s availabilities throughout the year.
- Developing and implementing rental promotion initiatives with the Center’s marketing and communications teams
- Leading all high-level rental negotiations and serving as on site-coordinator
- Managing studio and theater rentals departmental budget
- Managing subsidized studio rental grant compliance
- Leading and mentoring the Studio and Theater Rentals Manager to support the direction, delegation, and successful completion of departmental goals.

Essential Physical Job Functions:
- Must be New York City based and be present on-site to perform duties at the Arts Center, with remote presence per supervisor approval.
- Must be available on select weeknights and weekends to attend programming (to be arranged with advanced notice)
- Possessing or obtaining a FDNY F-03 Certificate of Fitness (Fireguard)
- Possessing or obtaining a CPR/First Aid Certification
- Possessing or obtaining de-escalation training
- Must be COVID-19 vaccinated.
- Must be able to move throughout our 40K square foot facility that includes stairs, ramps, indoor and outdoor spaces.
