Director of Safety & Compliance

You will be responsible for all operational work streams related to legal, Trust and Safety, Customer Support and IT while supporting the broader operations team.

To be right for this role, you should have 6-8 years of experience working in operations in a dynamic startup environment. Ideally you have a solid understanding of contracts, basic legal concepts and data privacy requirements (particularly in the US, EU, UK).

What you will do:

  • Legal
    • Liaise with outside counsel, ensure legal compliance with local authorities, related to but not limited to supplier & partner contracts / agreements, GDPR, product terms & conditions and privacy policies.
    • Review and respond to requests related to contracts, coordinating across teams and with finance.
    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to review law enforcement agency (LEA) requests
    • Continuous evaluation of insurance portfolio, recommending coverage to senior management team. This may involve researching new insurance options or negotiating with current providers to ensure that you have comprehensive coverage for all potential risks.
  • Data & Security
    • In partnership with the Director of Security, develop and implement efficient IT infrastructure and systems to support global operations, data security, and privacy.
    • Ensure company remains compliant with local data privacy laws
    • Constant coordination with Director of Security to identify and protect the company against risks related to data security and legal liability.
    • Develop training programs and communications across the company to ensure all team members are working in a safe and secure way.
  • Customer Support
    • Oversee Customer Support Manager and Trust & Safety Lead to ensure the highest quality of customer support and mitigate risks related to customer concerns.
  • IT
    • Work with IT staff and ensure needs are met
    • Maintain database of IT equipment, purchases, software licenses and associated renewals
    • Periodically review inventory
  • Operations
    • Support COO and VP Finance with various project work
    • Review existing operating processes and help improve efficiency
    • Improve documentation of various workflows with the support of project management
    • Hands on support on various other projects depending on organizational need

Requirements
About you:

  • Risk Management: You are savvy enough to secure various lines of insurance, globally, for a company in this industry. You have previous experience managing the insurance portfolio a scaling company.
  • Legal Acumen: You don’t need to be a lawyer, but you know your way around a contract and know enough to streamline communication with outside counsel and minimize billable hours.
  • Data Security: You keep up-to-date with what’s developing in the data privacy landscape and understand the tensions that exist in a data economy.
  • Customer Safety: You care about our members’ personal safety and have worked on legal cases and with law enforcement.
  • Communication: You are comfortable working with cross-functional teams in various time zones and equally adept at mobilizing external partners and internal staff to meet safety & compliance objectives.

  • At Feeld we believe all humans deserve to make a competitive wage. That’s why we offer a Baseline Freedom Salary of £60,000 GBP per year.
  • The base salary for this role is determined by Level and Step, as well as geographic location, but we estimate that this role can earn between $120,000 – $150,000 USD based on the requirements listed in this job description.

Our interview process:

  • Your first conversation with Feeld will be a screening call with our recruiter, where you’ll be able to ask – and receive answers – regarding any general questions you have and to confirm the role is a fit for what you’re seeking.
  • Your second conversation will connect you directly with the hiring manager for the role you’re applying to. Here, you’ll have a chance to ask more questions about the work you’ll be doing. This conversation will also focus on your past work experiences.
  • The next step for most of our roles is a candidate challenge. This is an evaluation of the skills relevant to be successful in this role and generally takes about an hour to complete.
  • Your third conversation allows you the opportunity to meet the team members you might be working with on a daily basis. Here, you’ll be able to ask questions about team processes, workflow, and the employee experience at Feeld.
  • We generally make an offer within 2 weeks of our final call, and offer a flexible start date that can begin as early as the next Monday after you sign our offer documentation.
  • Of note: all of our interviews are conducted remotely, and our interviewers will work with you to find an agreeable interview time based on mutual availability.
