Director of Macro and Market Strategy

As a Macro and Market strategist you will shape the macro and markets views for the OCIO (Office of the Chief Investment Officer), working closely with colleagues in other NYL investment boutiques. You will lead discussions on key macro and market themes with investors and help identify risks and opportunities to inform portfolio positioning. You will report to the head of Portfolio Solutions and will be a very visible member of the OCIO.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of a macro and markets narrative for the OCIO by synthesizing external and internal macro and market views and providing insights into macro variables and market themes
  • Interpret macro signals and distil important macro and markets data to assess the impact of macro and market conditions to various asset classes
  • Curate, organize, and update macroeconomic data and charts to communicate macroeconomic observations within OCIO and across other NYL partners
  • Survey external literature and publish regular updates with key findings impacting investment views, portfolio positions, or asset allocation
  • Maintain a library of macro models and monitor implications to portfolios, supplying when approrpiate proprietary models and signals
  • Curate and assist in the development of capital market assumptions (CMAs) to use in strategic and tactical asset allocation

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience as macro or market analyst
  • Advanced degree in finance, economics, statistics, or related discipline
  • Able to work independently to identify key themes and convey findings in compelling written communications and presentations
  • Experience with quantitative methods in macro-economics and investments
  • Competence in obtaining and using macro data from various platforms (Macrobond/Haver/etc)
  • Experience building macro models and quantitative tools, competence in programing languages, and awareness of database tools

Salary range: $135,000-$200,000

Overtime eligible: Exempt

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes

Sales bonus eligible: No
