Director of Data Engineering
Boston, MA (Hybrid)
This innovative Investment firm in Boston, MA is looking to bring on a Director of Data Engineering. In this role you will be managing a small team of 4 engineers while participating in the development of the platform as a hands-on contributor.
What you’ll do:
- Manage and develop the existing engineering team (4 people)
- Contribute to and support the strategy for all the platforms and solutions managed by the Research Systems team
- Provide expert level design and engineering support toward the successful delivery of individual projects
- Lead delivery of new data modeling system
- Manage the operation of new systems
- Contribute to the development of the platform as a hands-on-contributor
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience managing a small data engineering team
- Ability to build high-performance cloud native solutions on AWS
- Experience working with data lakes, data warehousing, and/pr database systems, and processing frameworks (Hadoop, Spark, etc.)
- Ability to write elegant code in Python
- Comfortable picking up new technologies independently
- Proven record of delivering projects and operating systems
