The Director, Ethics Risk and Compliance (ERC) Customer Engagement Advisor will identify, assess, and support effective management of risks presented by customer facing (CF) teams across all US functions (Medical, Sales, Market Access, Patient Services and Marketing) to empower CF associates to inde-pendently execute function-specific and cross-functional strategies in compliance with applicable Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation (NPC) policies, procedures, and Corporate Integrity Agreement (CIA) re-quirements. The ERC Customer Engagement Advisor will provide clear, timely and accurate function-specific and cross-functional ERC guidance, including the ‘why’ to CF teams. The ideal candidate is pas-sionate about both empowering associates to act compliantly and ensuring ERC guidance to CF associates is clear and actionable.
The Director, ERC Customer Engagement Advisor will be assigned certain CF teams and regions of re-sponsibility, which will evolve with needs of the US organization.
The Director, ERC Customer Engagement Advisor may also be responsible for an assigned therapeutic area of focus and will engage with the Therapeutic Area General Manager or equivalent and related cross-functional leaders to ensure a holistic view of risks across the strategies leveraged for the assigned thera-peutic area (key watch areas, share best practices, etc.). The therapeutic area of focus may evolve peri-odically with the needs of the US organization.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute strategies to integrate clear and actionable ERC guidance into the operations and training strategies for assigned CF teams (e.g., Sales, Mkt Access, Medical, Patient Services and Marketing) to support execution of function-specific and cross-functional strategies in compli-ance with applicable NPC policies, procedures and CIA requirements (e.g., Integrity Champions Network).
• Collaborate with CF stakeholders in connection with innovative or complex CF strategies to identify, assess, and support effective management of risks to ensure execution of such strategies is in compliance with applicable Novartis policies, procedures and CIA requirements.
• Effectively engage with CF leadership teams to ensure they have a holistic view of ERC risks in their teams (key watch areas, what’s going well, etc.) and collaborate to implement strategies to address key or emerging risks.
• Proactively monitor evolving US healthcare environment, enforcement trends and compliance pro-grams of other pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies, analyze with deep under-standing of CF team strategies and applicable ERC policies to identify and share insights within ERC.
• Be a knowledge expert related to Novartis healthcare compliance policies, procedures, and CIA re-quirements and how they apply to associates’ roles and responsibilities throughout of the US or-ganization.
• Develop trusted relationships with associates of all levels in CF teams to promote a SpeakUp cul-ture and proactively identify areas where ERC policies may be unclear or confusing and collaborate with ERC and CF team stakeholders to resolve them.
• Engage with CF leaders and associates to understand unique challenges of CF roles (which are typically field based) and collaborate with CF teams to strengthen a positive culture towards com-pliance and ethical decision making as an integral part of how we reimagine medicine for patients.
• Proactively engage with Ops/Analytics/Training teams supporting CF teams to evaluate data relat-ed to interactions with customers to identify trends and proactively mitigate key and/or emerging risks
• Collaborate with other ERC stakeholders (e.g., Risk Management Oversight, Operational Controls, CIA) to address ERC findings activities that impact CF associates (e.g., coaching, ad hoc training).
• Engage with Therapeutic Area General Manager and related cross-functional leaders to ensure a holistic view of risks across the strategies leveraged for assigned therapeutic area(s) (key watch areas, what’s going well, etc.) and ensure clear and actional ERC guidance is provided or seamless transition to the appropriate ERC stakeholder.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $174,400 and $261,600 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors
Minimum requirements
What you will bring to this role:
• Bachelor’s Degree is required in relevant area
• 8+ years in pharmaceutical, medical device or biotech companies; consulting, compliance or legal counseling of pharmaceutical, medical device or biotech companies; or combination thereof, inclu-sive of at least 2 different functions (eg Sales, Marketing, Medical, Market Access, Patient Ser-vices)
• 2+ years in compliance, legal or regulatory counseling for pharmaceutical, medical device or biotech companies
• Ideally the candidate will live in the Greater New Jersey area with the ability to come on site to the East Hanover, NJ campus.
