Location

Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Job Summary

Responsible for the oversight of new and renovation design and construction projects through the leadership of project management personnel. The team is responsible for project scoping, budget development/management, and schedule to ensure the successful completion of capital and noncapital design and construction projects. Partners across the institution with a clear customer service focus of delivering projects that support the KSU students, faculty, and staff in achieving the KSU mission.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Planning, Design and Construction
2. Oversees and is responsible for the leadership of a professional team of design and construction project managers to ensure quality KSU projects are completed on time and on budget
3. Responsible for developing and implementing best industry practice processes and procedures to ensure best value for KSU and adherence to state and Board of Regents standards and requirements
4. Partners with the Directors of Campus Planning, the Assistant Director of Interior Design, and the Director of Environmental Health and Safety as well as all KSU stakeholders and partners to ensure a coordinated and facilitated project process for all
5. Responsible for partnering with Procurement and BOR Real Estate and Facilities to ensure compliance with Procurement requirements while identifying strategies for efficiency and cost-effectiveness
6. Identifies and champions strategic initiatives to support sustainable design and infrastructure for building and campus-wide initiatives
7. Supports project managers in the solutioning and identification of potential impacts
8. Trains project managers in best practice budget and schedule development and management
9. Oversees the Design and Construction department budget
10. Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Architecture, Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Interior Design, Construction Management or related field

Required Experience
Ten (10) years of related experience in design and construction
Five (5) years of experience in higher education
Familiarity with relevant building codes and standards
Extensive experience in construction project management

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in related field from an accredited institution of higher education
Experience in commercial and higher education settings
Experience with research laboratory construction
Professional Architectural, Engineering, or similar, license
Five (5) years of management experience

Proposed Salary

The budgeted salary range is $124,360 to $129,000. Offers are based on relevant experience.

ABILITIES:
Ability to identify end user requirements, provide solutions, and deliver projects to meet user
needs.
Physical ability to conduct site walks
Comfortable with sitting for extended periods of time.
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines.
Ability to read and analyze design drawings, preferably using AutoCAD and/or Revit

KNOWLEDGE
Adeptness with Microsoft Project and project management software
Understanding of GA Board of Regents (BOR) capital project guidelines and procedures
Understanding of GA BOR/USG (University System of Georgia) and KSU procurement procedures
Industry knowledge of materials, manufacturers, vendors, etc
In-depth knowledge of applicable building codes and regulations

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem-solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management
and presentation skills.
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
