Director – Cybersecurity Operations & Incident Response

Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). The ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations.

The Director I, Technology – Cybersecurity Operations & Incident Response leader is responsible for overseeing global, 24/7/365 Cybersecurity Operations and Incident Response functions. This includes directing the people and processes, and utilizing advanced technologies, to detect, respond to, and contain cybersecurity incidents.

How you will make an impact:

  • Plans, directs, and manages the resources and efforts as part of the Global, 24/7/365 Cybersecurity Operations and Incident Response function.
  • Oversees detection, analysis, and response efforts to a wide variety of cybersecurity incidents caused by internal and external threats that may involve non-traditional working hours.
  • Oversees strategic planning, budget development, project and initiatives, and any necessary integration of government regulatory requirements.
  • Setting and managing to Key Performance Indicators and Key Risk Indicators.
  • Develop and document processes to ensure consistent and scalable response operations and ensure continuous improvement to the company’s incident response plan.
  • Drive integration with other corporate incident management programs to ensure consistency and alignment with peer support teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise working in regulated industries and related regulations, privacy, and compliance standards and frameworks such as HIPAA, PCI-DSS, NIST CSF, and HiTrust.
  • Create and deliver timely executive incident communications.
  • Negotiates the resolution of intra-organizational issues in the balanced best interests of the business.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with key business partners, including Legal, Privacy, Ethics, HR, BISO, and IT.
  • Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.
  • Leads other cyber defense functions as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 7 years of IT management experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • 15+ years of experience leading project teams and providing direction for professionals
  • Cyber security engineering, operations, and threat management experience
  • Cybersecurity Operations experience managing and interacting with multiple disciplines, including Cyber Defense, Cyber Intelligence and Analytics, Cloud Threat Management, Adversary Simulation, Detection and Response Engineering, Email Security, Endpoint Security, and Behavioral Analytics
  • Understanding of data leakage prevention, data protection and security, and insider threat concepts and capabilities
  • Expert knowledge of one or more specific technologies and a broad understanding of multiple Information Security domains
  • Background in fraud detection (financial and health) a plus
  • Prior leadership and management experience leading direct, matrixed, and geographically dispersed teams, vendors, and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, coach, train, and mentor staff
  • Strong executive presence, effective communication skills, including facilitation, negotiation, and persuasion
  • Ability to communicate across technology and business aisles
  • Background in regulated industries and related regulations, privacy, and compliance standards and frameworks such as HIPAA, PCI-DSS, NIST CSF, and HiTrust
  • Ability to manage across geographically diverse associates and vendor partners strongly preferred

For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $138,080 to $248,54.
