We are introducing an exciting new opportunity for a Senior/Principal NLP Scientist for our Director, AI team who is interested in working on the next generation of “goal driven conversational models.” The mission of the team is to positively impact the customer service through machine learning applications.
The ideal candidate understands the fast pace of a start-up environment and has a passion for topics that are on the frontier of research. We are exciting about the opportunity to collaborate throughout the company as well as to mentor, train and partner with the other members of the Data Science team.
Overview of the role:
- Lead and own the R&D innovation in NLP across the whole company, and in different geographies
- Effectively prioritize the innovation work, based on guidance from product
- Maintain a healthy balance within the team between research, product development, and product integration
- Think big; motivate and inspire the team to pursue bold goals and take pride in becoming one of the leading conversational AI organizations in the world
- Set a strategic direction for data identification, collection and qualification activities
- Lead data analysis for multiple projects with diverse scope and complex business and technical challenges across several business units and functions
- Connect with the academic world, establish partnerships and collaborations
- Encourage the team to publish results to major conferences, but without sacrificing product development
- Mentoring and training other team members on system design, machine learning modeling, and coding techniques relevant to NLP
Requirements:
- Master or PhD in NLP or Computer Science
- Deep knowledge of modern NLP ML-based, with special focus on transformers and large language models technologies
- 7+ years of industrial research experienceProven hands-on experience with LLM building, tuning and optimization for production use
- Hands-on experience in design and code review, ability to drive technology evaluations and to adopt metric-based plans and roadmaps
- Proven ability to manage a distributed team of researchers and engineers, resolve conflicts, be inclusive and comfortable with a fast-growing environment
- Reasonably well published
$200,000 – $260,000 a year
The anticipated base salary hiring range for this position is:
California or New York: $200,000 – $225,000
All other US hub locations: $183,000 – $198,000
The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.
