YOUR DAY TO DAY:

To prepare assembly and piece part drawings of new or modified designs using creativity in drawings and layouts ensuring completion of assigned tasks under limited or no supervision. This required an expertise level gained from at least 7 years working as a Drafter in a similar business.

YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:

  • Prepares finished detail and assembly drawings of moderate complexity to more complex ones, working from rough sketches or layouts, from solid models, specifications and comments provided by engineers and designers. Create piece part drawings from the model with appropriate notes and references.
  • Operates CAD/CAM workstation (SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD) efficiently and effectively to generate final documentation from verbal or written instructions; and creates interactive graphics data base for final output.
  • Prepares and completes complex design layouts to establish relationships and clearances among components and makes required calculations.
  • Performs calculations and takes initiative in developing missing information as required. Uses independent judgement.
  • Prepares simple preliminary designs and revises finished drawings as required. Checks drawings for completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepares parts lists from completed drawings and may select materials and parts based on data and specifications as assigned.
  • Assists in the selection of materials and parts from commercial and company specification lists. Prepares engineering change orders.
  • Coordinates the work of other drafters to ensure compliance with company practices and efficient workflow including preparations of labor expense estimates as required.
  • Experience working with an ERP program preferred.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:

  • Requires an AA/AS degree in drafting technology.
  • Technical expertise gained with at least seven (7) years related experience working as a Drafter in a similar work environment.
  • Thorough understanding of standard drafting techniques. Ability to prepare complex drawings from specs, and verbal descriptions.
  • Good knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Ability to learn and apply ANSI standards, CPI drafting, purchasing, and manufacturing standards to all drawings.
  • Proficient in drafting in 2D & 3D using CAD Software, preferably ACAD and SolidWorks PDM (Product Data Mgmt).
  • Ability to manage SolidWorks PDM (Product Data Mgmt).
  • Knowledge of Engineering Change Order (ECO) process. Able to launch, review and implement ECO’s. Knowledge of Reject Notices (RN).
  • Ability to make appropriate calculations for thermal expansion of various materials.
  • Intermediate problem-solving skills. Ability to find own solutions / remove roadblocks for successful completion of tasks.
  • Ability to create a bill of materials.
  • Ability to design/execute layouts of complex electronic and mechanical products and equipment.
  • Advanced drafting techniques, and a thorough knowledge of practical fabrication techniques.
  • Ability and willingness to train others and coordinate the work of other drafters to assure compliance with company practices and efficient workflow.
  • This position requires potential access to technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The successful candidate must be a “U.S. Person” as defined under ITAR and EAR. In order to be a U.S. Person for ITAR and EAR purposes, you must (i) be a citizen or national of the United States; or (ii) be a lawful permanent resident of the United States; or (iii) a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Salary Range: $32.00 – $42.00 non-exempt
