YOUR DAY TO DAY:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Design Drafter to join our Radome team. The ideal candidate will possess strong proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software and a keen eye for translating design concepts into accurate technical drawings. As a Design Drafter, you will collaborate with engineers and other team members to create comprehensive drawings that guide the manufacturing, construction, and realization of innovative projects.
YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
- Creates new and/or revises existing drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, and bills of material for our products
- Determines scaling; inserts necessary reference planes, centering and dimension lines, hidden line interpolations, and sectioning; prepares specifications for parts, assemblies, and installations; prepares complete production detail drawings; contributes design modifications to improve quality of product or facilitate manufacturing operations
- Checks drawings versus the project input for correctness and conformance to standard engineering drafting practices and standards
- Works with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and ECN/ECR documentation
- Creates Engineering Change Notices detailing the necessary changes to released designs, updates drawings/models/BOMs as needed, and routes change requests through the approval process
- Creates and revises documentation detailing assembly and/or testing
- May work with system management including file maintenance, backup and storage
- Works within project plans
- Produces, changes or checks simple to semi-complex mechanical drawings and assemblies
- Researches, generates and checks drawing changes
- Researches and interfaces with vendors on products that meet job design requirements
- Uses the Engineering Change database to implement changes in a design document to cut costs where needed and record changes that are needed to improve on a product
- Works under minimal supervision
- May provide work leadership to lower level drafters
- Handles unexpected demands and adapts to new situations
- Assists engineers in the design and development of complex and detailed layouts of printed circuit boards Participates in developing designs of new or modified high-density printed circuit boards
- May define design standards and configurations
- Works from preliminary schematics, part lists, and basic description of the board function, configuration, and arrangement as defined by engineering
- Instructs drafter in the completion of drawings and specifications
- May perform the checking of design layouts and detailed drawings
YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:
- Considerable knowledge of design principles and techniques including computer aided design (CAD)
- Trained/ experienced in the use of current strategic CAD tools (Pro-E/Creo or Solid Works preferred)
- Considerable knowledge of design documentation standards (e.g ASME Y14.5M, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Considerable knowledge of simple mechanical stress; structural, thermal and tolerance analysis
- Considerable knowledge of material requirements, fabrication techniques, and manufacturability
- Possesses considerable problem solving and collaborative skills
- Demonstrates initiative, applies personal talent to practical solutions
- Works within the trade space defined (cost / schedule / technology)
- Applies knowledge effectively in team environment
- Able to accept and integrate constructive feedback
- Demonstrates the ability to weigh risks and make progress in the face of uncertainty
- Willingly takes on problems and commits to solutions
- Considerable proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Considerable written and verbal communications skills
- Fulfills role as a reliable team member and understands own role within team
- Manages time to ensure an assignment’s completion
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain/maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Security Clearance
- This position requires potential access to technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The successful candidate must be a “U.S. Person” as defined under ITAR and EAR. In order to be a U.S. Person for ITAR and EAR purposes, you must (i) be a citizen or national of the United States; or (ii) be a lawful permanent resident of the United States; or (iii) a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
Salary Range: $25.00 – $28.00 / hour
