This position reports to the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for the Board of Governors. Areas of practice include, but are not limited to:

1. Legal Research and Writing

2. Contract review;

3. Interpretation, drafting and implementation of Board regulations and legislation;

4. Processing public records requests;

5. Review, process and resolve Complaints submitted to the Board office in violation of

6. Provide legal of review, drafting and development of Board regulations; provides legal advice and consultation to the Board and Board staff;

7. Legal issues related to higher education;

8. Interpretation and implementation of state and federal laws and regulations;

9. Assist in coordination and preparation of litigation related matters with General Counsel and/or Outside Counsel

10. Assists General Counsel in offering Guidance on Public Ethics laws, Public Records, Sunshine Law.

Responsibilities to support Corporate Secretary in Board of Governors Meetings and Conference Calls, include but are not limited to:

1. Assist with arranging pre-Board meeting briefings with senior staff of members

2. Assist with managing any special speaker/Chairman requests

3. Ensure all meetings are properly noticed

5. Assist in oversight of the preparation/production of print-ready and web-ready agenda, agenda table, and distribution

6. Works with support staff to ensure meeting minutes are prepared and accurate; assists in distributing/publishing final minutes

7. Supports Corporate Secretary in preparing Full Board Meeting Agenda and Materials

Minimum Qualifications:

J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the Florida Bar; knowledge and a minimum of three years of legal experience, preferably including experience working with laws affecting higher education and related issues; knowledge of Florida statutes, Constitution, and federal law.

Preferred Qualifications:
Legal experience with the State University System of Florida.

Hiring Range
Anticipated range $70,000 to $100,000; salary is commensurate with experience.
