The South Carolina Department of Commerce Marketing and Communications division is looking for a seasoned marketing professional to utilize their expertise as the agency’s Deputy Director of Marketing. Candidates must possess proven experience building a strategic approach to market the business of an organization.

To be considered for the position, you must articulate in a cover letter your experience, knowledge and abilities that reflect a highly skilled marketing professional able to serve in a Deputy Director role.   • Utilizes management experience in executing marketing campaigns of multiple industries.
  • Establishes the strategic direction of marketing and communications initiatives in accordance with the strategic plan and goals of the organization.
  • Directs, coordinates, and oversees all elements of marketing campaigns for an organization.
  • Creates and manages the finer points of marketing through print advertising, television, radio, billboards, collateral as well as social media platforms.
  • Collaborates and communicates with internal teams to establish compelling promotions that are designed to draw attention to the brand.
  • Manages the promotion and direction of the marketing activities, improvement of organization’s image, market data, and information.
  • Identifies and evaluates marketing strategies, based on knowledge of organization objectives, market characteristics, and cost/benefit factors.
  • Determines the demand for services offered by an organization in comparison to competitors.
  • Creates an analytical framework to track, test, monitor, and analyze data to determine marketing effectiveness and future strategic direction.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements based on market trends and research.
  • Identifies and develops contacts for promotional and media partnerships.
  • Collaborates on various organizational trade shows and other related events.
  • Communicates with stakeholders to ensure all parties possess up-to-date information for effective management.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor’s degree and relevant program management experience.

  • Manage all aspects related to the production and implementation of marketing campaigns.
  • Develop a cohesive marketing strategy for deployment across an organization.
  • Monitor campaign progress and evaluate return on investment.
  • Conduct general market research of competitor states.
  • Manage marketing budgets.

Preferred Qualifications
Prefer a bachelor’s degree in marketing with a minimum of five years’ experience managing and directing marketing campaigns/programs.
