Datacenter Integration and Technical Infrastructure Manager – Northern VA

We are looking to fill the role of Datacenter Integration and Technical Infrastructure Manager (DC ITIM), Northern VA. This opening requires a candidate with a background in Datacenter Construction & Fit-out projects, with an emphasis on telecommunication infrastructure/construction management.

The DC ITIM is responsible for the program management of all integration and technical infrastructure fit-out activities associated with Microsoft’s owned system and/or services and critical infrastructure required to be installed into new datacenter builds or lease facilities to deliver capacity to the business in the Northern Virginia metropolitan.

The role requires the identification and management of scopes and interdependencies between all external and internal stakeholders and coordinating same with the physical construction build and general contractor. The DC ITIM is responsible for coordinating the handover process and ensuring the required handover documentation and expectations are met to handover the space to our Operations teams and the business.

DC ITIM is responsible for producing and managing project plans and executing major milestones (Early Access, Ready Network Install, Corpnet Live, Security CX Complete, Fit Out Complete, Lockdown, Colo Ready) and for the financial approval and management function.

This position will be based in Northern Virginia and will have responsibility of leading Datacenter Integration scope of work for multiple Build projects across the Northern Virginia metro.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in fit-out and construction related project management.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience in IT fit out or construction related project management.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience managing large scale enterprise projects with both localized and virtual teams.
  • Cross-group collaborator and influencer across teams and organizations with proven success in participating in cross-functional teams to deliver on key projects.
  • PMI (Project Management Institute) and PMP (Project Management Professional) certification
  • BICSI RCDD or similar Telecommunications Design/Installation Experience preferred.
  • Experience managing large scale datacenter projects with both localized and virtual teams.
  • Client or Contractor side Datacenter construction or management experience.

Construction Project Management IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $91,800 – $178,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $117,900 – $195,000 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • An advocate for managing a safe worksite, supporting the implementation of the Microsoft High Risk Activity (HRA) program and work with our Construction Program Manager and General Contractors to deliver trade collaboration methods to improve safe working and co-ordination of the job sites.
  • Coordinating internal Microsoft scope and resource efforts, requirements, and schedules with those of the Contractors, Vendors, and Suppliers to ensure a smooth and timely handover of the fitted out Datacenter facility and capacity to the Microsoft Operations team and Business Groups.
  • Coordinate with the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team and supporting specialty consultants to review, improve and execute the design.
  • Coordination of the telecom materials procurement, telecoms installation, Security systems installation, furniture, fixtures and equipment (FFE) procurement and installation
  • Coordination of the design, procurement, installation and turn up of the facility Corporate Network
  • In cooperation with the Construction Lead this position aligns metro wide delivery strategies to local team objectives, business processes, vendor management strategies, and cross-group collaboration efforts.
  • Partner with the Construction Project Manager to align delivery strategies across multiple sites and manage a continuous improvement program that will result in a lean project delivery approach.
  • Responsible for identifying and managing stakeholder dependencies and construction deliverables and handoffs for/with Microsoft Security (DCPS), Microsoft IT (CSE), DCI NE, Networking and Integrated services.
  • Work alongside the DCD Construction manager and report into the Regional ITIM team leader and is responsible for the delivery of Integration and Technical Infrastructure scope and deliverables for the US-East Region.
